Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
looking at my trade report. i i seem to have an average loser thats 40-50% larger than my average winner. this probably explains why my down days are so much larger than my up days. i was aware of the situation so i increased my targets. I find it hard to tackle this problem so any tips would be welcome as always . i originally increased my targets and tried to go for pickier trades but the market seems to go against me after 1-1.5 points and very rarely goes up higher before it hits my stop loss. i usually have my stop loss at a constant 1.5 points, and trying to reduce it just ended up with me constantly getting stopped out. The only solution i can seem to find is 1. find better trades or 2. enter a few ticks further against my intended target to compensate for my reduced stop loss. note to self pay more focus more on entry and stop placement.
its a busy week for me. wont be able to trade much and will be off for wed through friday due to the holidays and am very busy due to personal matters. Today though i took 3 trades 2 points short and 2 points long all based on simple EMA and trend exits based on resistance. check the chart below
So today is my first day back into trading and i caught a cold from the family haha. it wasn't really the best day today. I saw the market was in a slow up trend crawl over the holidays. I came in this morning trying to think of it as any other monday. i looked at support resistance saw presssure up and down. i saw a range forming from 7:30 to 10:20 ish EST i threw in some small trades to feel the market and managed to catch the support level for 2.5 points long at the 2201.50 level. i've been losing more trades than winning today so i'm gonna call it a day and not risk giving back to the market.
I managed to avoid the temptation of trading out of boredom and waiting for clearer entries. which is a plus
i also was able to call it quits when normally i would over trade.
below are my charts and a trade report from TST. Slowly but surely.
did something dumb today came in expecting a range for the first hour or two, but ended up trying to scaled into a big short and lost 450. im definitely not ready for it. This time though it wasn't so much emotional trading just me trying to get a swing trade instead of a scalp i suppose. i'm going to go back and stick with my original method as much as i despise it haha.
i shorted on the 50 ema thinking the bear pressurue would return, but i was wrong and lost on a 4.5 point stop on two contracts.
- 562 Today. gotta practice better risk management and discipline. i want to increase my risk reward, but i always end up with a very low winning trade %.
my major problem i've seen is that my average winning days are about 229 but my average losing days seem to be 400. i've been trying to fix this but cant't seem to find a good solution. the only thing i can see my self doing is setting my daily loss limit 200. unless i can some how increase my winning days which seems highly unlikely.
well looking at my trade report idk how i didnt notice it before but ive rarely dipped below (only 1 time)-158 in PnL on my winning days. whenever i went lower than 158 i usualy never came out of negative and ended the day losing 400+. so my solution is pretty much just stopping at negative 158- negative 200 -.-
