Windows snipping tool and windows paint if I want to edit later. Most annotation is done before I snip it.
I don't attach them to my journal. Instead i use a file naming system:
<symbol> <date> <keywords used to describe the features of the particular pic>
if I'm reviewing a past journal entry, I search for the symbol and/or date to access the pics. That way, I can also search for all the pics that show a particular feature, rather than look through the journal.
