So I missed the oil trade from the 79.70s from the short side this morning. Would have been good for at least 30-40 ticks. I tried to get in short on a couple of the retracements but the market never hit my limit orders.
I had three trades in the MES. All were on the short side as the market hit new all time highs. All were stop out for minimal losses. I was in front of the screen for 2 hours and decided to call it a day and come back tomorrow.

Once again I missed the move at open from the short side. Buyers pushed the price up to 5324 where I hesitated to go short and the market moved down from there. Had to find a spot to jump in short at a lower price. Got in at 5318.50 where price moved against me a couple of points. Closed the trade for a minimal loss. Had a couple more trades, then the market made a push for high of the day and I got short at 5324.75 which was 5 ticks from high of day and the market moved beautifully in into profit.
I also had a great trade in the micro oil contract this morning. Oil was trading in a range after 9am and I went short at the top of the range. Caught the move down and was good for 30 ticks.
The right trade was to go long the MES at open. It was a rally for the next two hours almost hitting all time highs. I took a few stabs a some short positions. Lost some points on those positions.
Opened a few trades in the micro oil market. There was a rally up to about 80 then the reversal came at about 10am. Caught about 30 ticks on the way down.
I had one trade in the MES as the market rallied. It was short and I closed it for a loss. As the MES made high of the day to 5339 I hesitated and did not pull the trigger on a short. Would have been a good one but can't win them all.
In the oil market I had a couple of uneventful trades.
I really struggle when the market is at all time highs and the range for the morning is only 12 points in the MES. I took a couple of low probability trades in the middle of the trading range this morning and lost a few points. The big moves happened after the Fed Minutes came out with a nice move down then back up but I had to work.
Oil had a good 80 tick range to trade with in the morning. I think I had 4 oil trades and came away with one runner of 70 ticks profit. Still ended the day down.
After struggling for the first three days of this week I had a great trade today and I’m sure many of you did as well. The MES made all time highs last night. The market moved down at open today and I went short one MES contract. I held my position for a 24 point profit and scored one of my biggest trades in recent memory.
I missed the first hour of trading as I woke up at 10:30. The MES was rallying and I closed a couple of unsuccessful shorts before I sold one contract almost at day highs a couple of minutes after 11. I was off work today so I was able to hold onto my short all day and see what would happen. I almost got stopped out at around 2pm but the market moved down and oscillated below my entry price until I closed it at market close. I made about 9 handles and came out of the day in the green. I had one uneventful trade in oil where it was a small loss.
Monday was the holiday. I still put on a few trades in the micro oil market. The thing about after market hours is the trends are very consistent with minimal pull backs. This makes trading reversals difficult and hard to spot. I had a few trades Monday, all were losses.

Today was a new day and I woke up very late, like noon lol. I only had about an hour to watch the markets before I had to leave for work. I put on a few gamble trades with a set stop on each. 4 trades total, 3 losses and 1 win. I had to close the winning trade because I had to step away from the screen. All trades were the MES and each had a stop of 8 ticks. I really like the 8 tick/2 point stop for the MES. Can't say I will use it for every trade...don't want to be too predictable lol.
I have seen it many times in the past several months. The MES will trend in one direction in premarket, then reverse at market open. Today was no different. This morning was a solid trend lower in premarket. The MES bottomed out about 9:35 then a steady trend higher. I went long about 5280 in the MES at about 9:35. I held on for the homerun but did not get the big 20+ handle move I was looking for. Held my long until 1pm when I had to go to work and closed the trade for a 9 point win.
In oil I opened and closed a few gamble trades that were counter trend as the market grinded lower. These trades all but wiped out my profit in the MES.
It was a pretty good day and I traded the MES and MCL. I had a few breakeven trades in the MES and one 5 point winner. It was mostly a sideways range bound day so I had to take what I could get and did not snag any 20+point winners.
I had a few closed stop out trades in oil. There was volatility after the oil inventories. I was short during the news and held through 40 ticks of heat and the trade eventually went my way and closed it for 50 tick profit.
