Just wondering what's happening here, it worked ok earlier today, closed it, and trying to open it again but it's behaving really strange as shown below. the September contract looks normal but the December contract is like this. Any help is appreciated.
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
From your chart, it looks like I had exactly the same issue -- the big single bar dropping down. I had Sept. values right up to that big candle, then Dec. after that. I had done the normal rollover procedure to Dec, and the chart should have updated all its data for Dec, but didn't.
I emailed NT support and they sent back instructions that apparently are for the December contract only (for all the equity indexes -- ES, NQ, TF, YM). I had done the rollover just like I always do, and got the same result you have. The problem is that NT has the wrong rollover date in its database for Dec., so you have to manually fix it first. Here are the correct instructions for this month -- I hope it will be only for this month. (): ninjatrader.com/Advisories/[AUTOLINK]CME[/AUTOLINK]-9-16-2016
Once I did this, I had to delete the chart I had done the "rollover" on, because it didn't know what to do with data from both contracts, and create a new one with Dec. only.
Charts that I had not tried to rollover the old way updated with no problem when I just changed the contract, after I had done the manual adjustment to the rollover date as per the above link.
I hope this fixes it for you. If this isn't really your issue, an email to NT support would be your next step, but I think it will fix it.
I'm thinking I would like to put a post in the spoos thread and the Scalper's Journey thread on the issue, in case others had it and didn't know the fix.
If this fixed it for you, and if you wouldn't mind, I might reference your thread so anyone else could identify the odd long bar on the chart that is a giveaway, from your chart picture. I didn't record my chart when I had it, and it would be good to have an image.
Only if that's OK with you, and if in fact this was your issue.
Thursday, September 8th is contract rollover for several futures contracts including the ES. The rollover dates for these contracts will need to be manually configured in your NinjaTrader database.
NinjaTrader Rollover issue for Dec. contract in ES, NQ, TF and YM
Rollover this time around in the equity indices was a little unusual on NinjaTrader. Apparently there was an issue with the rollover date in the NT database, and so Ninja put out separate, …
