Thanks Ron, I had thought about it, although I didn't go through with it because it looks like the issue was limited to one day (I was having multiple-day issues which I managed to resolve). Since I was trying to isolate what the problem was, that specific day (which you helped by downloading independently) was throwing me off-course.
But it's not that I really needed that day, it was purely for troubleshooting purposes.
In any case, as for the Market Replay providers, the ones I found are

https://www.theintentionaltrader.com/mrdd-eas/
One does not appear to offer any kind of trial. The other appears to offer a 'free' version, although I am not clear as to what you get with it.
Can you help answer these questions

NinjaTrader market replay servers, so if they had corrupted data you'll see corrupted data with these too.

You are probably right about using NT8 - I haven't tried that. Problem is all my stuff is in NT7 and it will take a monumental effort to convert it.
