I am currently performing some due diligence on NinjaTrader 8 for Futures trading.
On NT8, can a user configure the following setup:
a) Trade execution – using a NinjaTrader Broker futures account with "Professional" registration. (account would be registered as “Professional” only because it is in the name of my small private company),
and at the same time ...
b) Real-time market data source - using a “Non-Professional” account in my personal name with NinjaTrader Broker for the data feed.
Can this be achieved?
Any links to the NinjaTrader website that you can provide (I have tried to find) would also be appreciated. Thanks for your help!
Hi
I think with professional they mean you have one of the "series" license. Which usually means you pay a much higher cost for everything. You can have a corporate trading account without being professional. When I first set up my Tradestation account I had pushed one of the wrong "yes" and they considered me a "professional" and that meant much higher fees. And it took tons of effort to change it. I would call them first, be careful.
Good luck,
K
I don't think using pro and non-pro is allowed to be linked.
The last time I checked, the rules were much tighter and not as flexible.
If it is possible, the pro and non-pro are separate accounts and Multi broker NT will allow you to get data from one and trade another by selecting the account when trading.
But I think, if you use non-pro data to trade a pro account, it will likely be noticed and cause issues.
Perhaps @mattz from Optimus Futures can give some advice.

Yes, I agree with you @DavidHP that once you classified yourself as a professional, any account you have is associated with your professional status.
However, the OP said that he wants to establish a new company specifically for trading, and I would advise asking the FCM how they would treat it. Some FCMs consider any company a professional while others may not. I think the exchnages would also need to know whether trading is his/her primary profession.
