I am currently using Tradestation and on Macbook pro. I am thinking about changing to a Windows base PC with Ninjatrader. Any advice or recommendations are helpful as I have never used NT. I might add I am not great with programming

I recommend staying with Tradestation. Ninja is great but is less stable, doesn't have Mobile App. Also, if you take a look at where the champion traders are like Kevin Davey, Michael Cook, Larry Williams, its all mostly Tradestation. Im yet to hear about a champion that's on ninja but that's just me.
Also if you're not great with programming, TS Easylanguage is about as simple as a coding language can be.

If I could do this all over again I most certainly wouldn't choose NinjaTrader.

NinjaTrader is cheaper, if you want live data you would have to pay around $60 with kinetick, the price varies on the type pf market you wanna watch

In Tradestation you don’t pay for data or platform, all you have to do is fund the account with 5K . If you don’t get to the 5K then you have delayed data and can trade it on sim

Hello @surfcat69! Here at Cannon we offer our E-Futures platform that is PC based and is a free platform with an Advanced mobile app as well as web based access if needed. Although NT is a good platform there are other PC options as well that are free and have mobile access. Here is the link to our demo: https://www.cannontrading.com/software/e-futures-international

PM with any questions about Cannon Trading (800) 454-9572 (310) 859-9572. Trading commodity futures, forex and options involves substantial risk of loss. You won't be able to tell anything worthwhile without at least some hands-on experience.

You can get a free trial of NT for a couple of weeks. They used to also extend it for another two weeks on request; I don't know if they do now.

So my advice is simply to take a look for yourself. You already know TradeStation, so now you need to find out about the other choices. By the way, you can generally get short-term free demos, with real-time data, from brokers who are interested in getting more business. So look around. Another popular platform is Sierra Chart. Several brokers offer that also.

One thing to notice is that TradeStation is also a broker, so the choice of the platform is also the choice of a broker and a data feed. NT is also a broker so much the same applies (there are a very few other brokers, like Interactive Brokers -- IB -- that also offer it, but very few.) The other platforms are usually not the proprietary product of one broker, so you have both the benefit of more choices, and the dilemma of more choices, too.

But get your hands on whatever you want to test drive, and test drive it. You can't have an opinion or make a judgment of something you have never used.

For what it's worth -- which is very little, for you -- I have used TS (a long time ago, so it may have changed a lot), and switched to NT7 (NT has changed a lot since then too.) I have used the current version of NT, version NT8, and liked it a lot. Others have had stability issues with it, but I didn't, at least after a too-long development process on their part. I did have slow-down issues because I taxed it too much with code executing in many charts, and I was careful with the indicator add-ons I ran in it because they can cause trouble with it. I don't know if they fixed all that, because I moved on. Performance was my issue with them; it may not be with you. I finally moved to Sierra Chart, which is lightning-fast and very stable, but it does have a learning curve.

So I just gave you my experience with some of the platforms I have tried. You should pay it very little attention, except to notice that other people can honestly write totally different reviews of each (and have.)

So go take some test drives and ignore all of our opinions.

Bob.
