I would love the ability to not show your unrealized profit in chart trader. Right now you need to choose either points, $, or %. Not knowing would help out with psychology issues though!
Cheers

Note: this issue has been resolved (details at bottom of post)
In NT8, it seems that we must resize the SuperDOM window in order to increase or decrease the number of visible price rows. After doing so, I noticed that the rows will remain the same height regardless of how many are displayed. Although I would prefer to keep the NT-7 menu option which allowed the user to specify "number of price rows" without any need to resize the SuperDOM window, I am willing to change my habits in order to accomodate the new workflow requirements.
After I posted a similar thread to this one on the Ninjatrader support forum, a reply (with an example video about how the "number of price rows" functionality actually works in NT7) by Ninjatrader_ChelseaB helped me to understand that only the method of interaction has changed in NT8, and so the same results can be achieved in NT8 simply by resizing the superDOM.
My actual issue should have been restated as follows: it seems that NT7 superDOM allows me to use a smaller height for each price row than what NT8 now appears to require. If there is not currently a way to get back to the NT7 shorter price row height when using NT8, then perhaps that is the feature which I should have requested.
I think that it is important to visualize prices at a glance which would normally lie at least a little bit outside of the superDOM without running out of screen space or wasting screen space, and without the need to slide the price ladder up or down manually. That is why the shorter height of each price row on the superDOM matters to me.
Update: my issue has been resolved by a reply (including an example screenshot showing side-by side superDOMs and also displaying the superDOM properties menu with a custom font size parameter) made by tradesmart to my other post on the Ninjatrader support forum as follows:
"Why not just change the font size? That will affect the number of rows, as will resizing the DOM window, so in combination you should be able to display exactly the number of rows you'd like."
It would be great to have optimizaation capabilities exposed in API and accessible from within strategy code ... would this be possible at some point, is it on the pipeline?
Went back to NT7... probably for good.
NT8 is too big for it's britches... so to speak.
I won't go down the full list, but...
It starts with the inability to change basic data in a dialogue box and simply hit enter.
Instead, you have to use your mouse to click 'Apply' then click OK or hit enter.
I plot all my own calculations daily so NT8 right there alone is a non-starter.
Factor in all the amazing indicators that are no longer available with 8 and I'm done.
Killer indicators like rainbow, AlertOnTrendlineHit and on and on...
And NT8 resident alerts? how many levels of dialogue boxes do you need? seriously? Waaay over engineered to a ridiculous degree.
It's like a bunch of MS engineers had a wet dream with code. sheesh.
There are dozens of reasons why I went back to 7... and the only two things I miss about NT8 that I can't have with NT7? the ability to auto-center price on a chart and that I can't add more levels into stock fibonacci retracements (essentially turns it into a 2 for 1 fib extension tool as a space and time saver for ACCURATELY projecting future price reversals)... no big deal.
I have Enormous respect for the engineers and tech support guys at NinjaTrader...
These guys routinely go above and beyond the call of duty to make things right for their customers and I for one have nothing but great things to say about pretty much all of them!
NT8 on the other hand?.. is unnecessarily complicated bloatware.
I can't take take the crashes anymore. I have nearly nil 3rd party indicators, a very powerful dedicated PC and just dragging the mouse in a chart window causes crashes. At wits end.
