A few years ago I looked into EasyLanguage on the TS platform. The thing that dissuaded me from using it was that I couldn't see a way of trading real-time prices (or prices that are no older than a few seconds). The closest I could find was trading the closing price of the last minute bar.

This isn't sufficient for my trading strategy, because I look at velocity and movement on a smaller timescale (on the order of 10-seconds or so). Has anything changed to where this is now possible? I see mention of an "Intrabar order" - Does this mean I can keep track of real-time prices and place an order now instead of waiting for the minute bar to finish?

mwtzzz,

yes, Tradestation allows for intrabar order generation and computing strategies intrabar nowadays. There are some limitations though, one would be that you can't use it with/on advanced bar types (like Kase, Renko etc.).

How would one code this in EasyLanguage? I see the setting to enable IntraBar order generation to "True", but I can't see any Buy or Sell commands that use it. (buy and sell require at bar close or next bar).

mwtzzz,

when intrabar order generation is enabled, "next bar" means next tick and you would use the regular orders.

mwtzzz,

you are welcome. This link gives a good explanation: https://www.multicharts.com/trading-software/index.php/IntraBarOrderGeneration.
I would also suggest checking this: About Intrabar Order Generation and the mentioned look inside bar backtesting feature.
