Buenas tardes.
I used to work in banking and brokerage for a few years. I've spent the last 5 at home with the kids trying to supplement my wife's income. I started with equity options and iron condors. Got some training from a coach using stochastic and MA system for day and swing trading. I've been working with a trading psychologist(quite expensive) when I realized I had a big mental block and overtrading problem. He introduced me to Futures as a practice ground and I'm gravitating that way with my trading as trying to scalp equity options or day trade options seems full of uncertainty.
Making a living out of this has been a dream ever since I first saw Trading Places as a kid...probably not the best inspiration but here I am.
Well I will ask, whats the secret to trading?(jk) I'm working through the webinars from Al Brooks, and trying to read his first book. I'm looking for a way to solidify my method with entry and exit setups. Any resources that you found valuable or places where you found them well explained?
I am familiar with Al Brooks' name, there are several threads as well as webinars by him you have access to in this forum, but personally I've never read his methodology.
I think in terms of what's valuable it can be subjective. Especially in trading the adage one man's trash is another man's treasure is very apt, I believe.
It boils down to what type of market you are most comfortable with, how the market moves and whether it suits your personality.
There are a few threads where certain trading methodologies are explained quite extensively, one such thread being The [AUTOLINK]Scalper[/AUTOLINK]'s Journey which used to be very active up to a couple of years ago, then the owner moved away from FIO and it practically stagnated. I want to caution people in following anybody else's method as for most people it invariably results in not being able to obtain the same results, or at least this seems to be the general feedback.
The single most valuable thing I found helpful is screen time, i.e. spending time in front of a market and understanding how it moves, followed by SIM trading to validate when one thinks has found a workable edge. The transition to live trading should never be treated lightly, especially because there tends to be the misguided expectation, at the beginning, that SIM trading = live trading, that's when trading psychology becomes (or should become) front and center.
I just got introduced to Multicharts. Looking to learn how to use the PowerLanguage so I can code a strategy. If you could give me some guidance that would be great. I have no experience coding but I really want to put my strategy to work because I've been following CL since September 2019 and I know for sure it'll be profitable.
I've been following markets for about 20 years now. I'm interested in using PowerLanguage to code a strategy for CL Futures. VERY confident it'll work. Only problem is that I have no Idea how to code! Any suggestions on the best way to learn would be much appreciated.
I started with Ken Roberts Jr. 20 years ago. Then got back into futures with Online Trading Academy; next wasted money in TradeGuider VSA software. Got some more software SDvol. from Neurostreet. And now I can't get out of TradeSafe by Michael Guess. All this happened before a friend told me about this forum. Just last week got another inexpensive order flow software with a satisfaction guarantee from Michael Valtos. Will see. Will be posting.
Wow Ken Roberts. That is how I got started about 25 years ago. I remember calling and recording the 1,2, & 3 (or A, B, C) patterns on the daily chart. That wasn’t yesterday.
