Hi everyone!

I currently trade through Apex Trader Funding via NinjaTrader (the latest version) using their new NinajTrader-Tradovate accounts.

One of the features that I'm really missing having moved from Rithmic is the ability to set a maximum daily loss (i.e. auto-liquidate all open positions and prevent further trading when I hit that limit).

I have tried to view settings in Tradovate, but as it is classed as a demo a simulation account it looks like the functionality has been removed.

Does anyone know of any workarounds / code etc that could help me with this? I'm assuming this would need ot be done via NinjaTrader desktop?

Thanks so much!

For their own brokerage, NT has risk settings on the account management homepage. Maybe you'll find it there for these accounts as well?

Unfortunately, that's the issue: I'm trading Apex prop accounts (the new type that link Ninja to Tradovate/ TradingView) and I can't see this option. It's switched off. I really need to find a workaround some how.

Thanks

There is a free indicator from MAS Capital which implements "Loss limit - Disable the trading ability if the maximum loss is reached"

@adamn Hi, I also trade using apex/RTP/NT8, so there are two options.

1) lead with sim account, set your risk parameters within that. It works, it does goes against apex rules but it free...
2) Guardian Angel. came across through bwolf's suggestion. It's a paid addon, checkout bwolf's journal for how to set it up. bwolf also uses cold turkey, I have it, but I don't use it much, I kind of trade whenever
during RTH.

Either way make sure you keep an eye on your RTP, sometimes your exit orders on NT doesn't execute on RTP.

I tried leading with sim account for a while, it works, once in while it bugs out but no big deal. My issue was I would always uncheck and remove my risk parameters. I switch overed to GA addon. I no longer have that itch to change my risk settings, (cross fingers, almost 3 weeks now). Unfortunately, there is no other way to set a hard stop from the backend since we use apex, this is the only way. If you combined with cold turkey, and create some crazy ass password, chances are this is the best way to lock yourself out for the day.

Stay safe, stay green friends!

Hello,

In relation to this matter, if I use GAT and set a daily loss limit, is it possible to modify this limit in the same day? I need that it cannot be modifiable.

Thanks and best regards.

Andres

I do set my daily loss with RTrader Pro and then lock the application with Cold Turkey. I also always have an open “ready to go”-block in cold turkey for ninja trader. Once I hit the button, it closes NT and I cannot open it anymore for the set time.

Works for me. And I don’t have to pay the overpriced GAT.

No, you can lock access to modify it by specific session time or by password, also you can use a random password and set a reminder by specific number of days.
