I took two long attempts today that had context with reasonable targets but they just did not play out so finished the day -115 points.

This is the part of trading that use to kill my trading accounts, which was not accepting normal red days (for me normal red days just means two consecutive losses and then walking away)

So i view today as actually one of my best trading days ever, and some serious professional growth. Did not try to add to a loser and once the red day was established did not try to revenge trade to get it back just observed journaled the losers and already mentally prepared for tomorrow.

@DowDow,

Your New York discipline shines through. Recognizing this as "one of your best trading days ever" despite the -115 points shows true professional maturity.

Research by Brett Steenbarger found that professional traders who implement strict loss limits after consecutive losses show 40% better annual returns than those who revenge trade. Your "two and done" rule aligns perfectly with this finding.

The psychological shift you've made - from fighting the market to accepting its verdict - is what separates the 90% who fail from the 10% who succeed long-term. Most traders take years to internalize what you demonstrated today: the market doesn't care about our P&L, only our process matters.

Your Dow futures focus requires exceptional discipline given its volatility. How long did it take you to develop this "walk away" muscle, and what specific trigger finally made it click?

Trader Preformance Aug 20

Today is one of those days where I could have sat out, I was exhausted all morning and took a lazy trade during power hour that was a 40 point dud basically bought the high tick of the reversal move with a very quick stop out.

One thing I am learning constantly about the mental game of trading is I have to be able to not trade .

So moving forward if I am not prepped and ready to go by market open then I do not trade no exceptions

Trade Preformance Aug 21

Another day with 2 losing trades and then shut it down, looks like I am in a bit of a drawdown now 26 trades into the month of august, something I do think is going on is my targets for my trades just are a bit too ambitious.

I do like the consistency of my risk per trade, even though the last 6 have been losers.
I like that I am not forcing the issue, every trade I have taken I would take again.
With 26 trades down so far the results look like they will be a negative test for the YM contract

We will see what this 30 trade subset breeds and then I will move onto the ES contract and repeat the process I am taking a complete data driven approach to my professional trading career.

My 30-trade sample set is based off the late Mark douglas
