Hey everyone, I am looking to potentially purchase ninjatrader lifetime license but I need to find some information before I fork over the cash.I have taken an Interest in orderflow and regarding their footprint/volumetric bars.
1. Can you highlight selling/buying imbalances?
2.Does it highlight bar point of controls?
3. Can you extend automatically untested point of controls?
4. Can you highlight exhaustion?
5. Can you cutomise the bars to be volume profile, split etc like in sierra charts?
bonus question, it seems they extend the DOM onto the chart sort of like bookmap with one tool, can you use that with footprint/volumetric as well?
Thanks!
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
1. Yes, this is possible with Order Flow Volumetric Bars when Show Imbalance is checked in the Data Series window
2. Yes, in Volumetric Bars this is identified with Color for Max Volume. In Order Flow Volume Profile, this is the POC is colored with “Color for POC”
3. Order Flow Volume Profile will project the POC line to the next bar, or to the end of session, depending on how it is set up.
4. There is not an out-of-box exhaustion measure, but volumetric information is available through NinjaScript where a custom indicator could give a custom read.
5. There is not a “split” function, but multiple profiles can be added freely with their own time frames

Hi,
Is it possible to highlight imabalance area and extend it to right.. ( or box 3 stacked imbaloances and extend it to right.. according to bullish or bearish) please suggest incase any indicator from ecosystem does this job for volumetric bars. Thanks
I have been in your exact position.
You are essentially trying to grab the most important parts of the volumetric bars and highlight them/manipulate them as you can do in Sierra Charts.
You can make it 70% as effective as Sierra Charts. You can get the other 30% by paying a load more money to a 3rd party. But then if something happens with your platform, NT support will blame the 3rd part indicator and make you remove it to retest it, and you are back to square 1.
Your options, use Sierra Chart and take the extra time for the learning curve.
Live with it.
Raise a feature request for NinjaTrader and pray.
Hey I am just starting with Volumetric Bars and I would like to know if you can highlight or box around the 70% Value Area of each Bar? Seems like it could be done in NINJAScript. Wondering if anyone has seen it? Or in a Paid Script? Thanks
Imbalances -- Fully supported. Diagonal comparison with a configurable ratio (default 1.5x). Enable via "Show Imbalance" in the Data Series window. Clustered imbalances automatically form visible S/R zones.
Bar POC -- Yes, color-coded via "Color for Max Volume." One caveat worth knowing: the volumetric bar POC can differ from the Order FlowVolume Profile POC unless that profile is set to "Tick" resolution.
Extending untested POCs -- The Order Flow Volume Profile (a separate tool from Volumetric Bars) can project the POC line forward natively. No 3rd party required for this one.
Exhaustion -- Visual identification only. NT defines it as multiple consecutive levels near the top or bottom of a bar all dominant on one side. No automatic marking -- you read it from the color pattern. There is a feature request in their system (SFT-4231), though not sure where that stands currently.
DOM on chart -- NT Market Depth Map is their Bookmap-style tool and can be layered with Volumetric Bars simultaneously.
Where the 30% gap lives
Granular customization -- split bid/ask footprint views, more profile types, deeper level configuration. Sierra Charts wins there. Your point about 3rd party support headaches is legitimate and worth factoring into the cost calculation before committing.
For most order flow workflows on ES or NQ, native NT8 covers the essentials. How much that remaining gap matters really depends on how precise the footprint work needs to be.
