USA Plays Australia Right Now Without Pulisic -- The 61.5% vs. 2.85% Split Tells the Whole Story

The USA-Australia World Cup Group D match kicked off at 3 PM ET in Seattle. Over $7.67 million traded in 24 hours on this single contract -- the largest prediction market event by volume on the board right now. USA prices at 61.5% to win despite Christian Pulisic being confirmed out. The market barely moved on the Pulisic news. Folarin Balogun leads the attack; the quality gap is large enough.

Today's Prediction Market Odds

Top Contracts

1. USA vs. Australia (Today, 3 PM ET) -- USA 61.5% / Australia 15.5% ( Polymarket (USA) | Polymarket (Australia))

Both teams entered 1-0: USA beat Paraguay 4-1, Australia upset Turkey 2-0 despite facing 30 shots. Australia's counter-attack won once. The market says it won't work twice without Pulisic in the lineup. Sportsbooks have USA at -165 to -176; the Polymarket 15.5% on Australia (~+545 American odds) is consistent but more liquid.

2. USA to Win 2026 FIFA World Cup -- 2.85% ( Polymarket)

Here is the number: if USA wins today (61.5%), the implied probability of winning the remaining five knockout games is just 4.6% (2.85 / 61.5). The market is giving USA a 1-in-22 chance once Australia is handled. Co-host advantage does not get you past France in elimination rounds. For comparison: co-host Canada sits at 0.35%, and Mexico -- who just qualified today -- is at 1.55%. Three North American co-hosts, combined: ~4.75% to win the whole thing.

3. France to Win 2026 FIFA World Cup -- 18.45% ( Polymarket)

France leads the field at 18.45%, 6.5x USA's probability. Mbappe scored twice vs. Senegal (3-1 win) and now sits third all-time in World Cup scoring at 14 goals. Spain drew 0-0 with Cape Verde and drifted to ~14%, while England trades ~12-13% after a 4-2 win over Croatia. The top three hold roughly 45% of total probability; the other 55% is spread across 29 teams.

What to Watch

USA win today = Group D clinched before the final match, opening up rotation options for the knockout stage. The World Cup outright market has crossed $2.6 billion total -- one of the largest sports prediction markets in history. France's lead is real but the field is alive.

Data from Polymarket. Not financial advice. USA-Australia resolves at 19:00 UTC / 3 PM ET on FOX.

TGIF! Have a good weekend!
