I have not used my AMP account much (mostly because I despise NinjaTrader), but my question is: Does AMP frown upon the use of CQG Trader in any way? I ask because AMP does not officially support CQG Trader. Dan? Anyone?
By happenstance, I had tried logging into CQG Trader with my AMP account and it worked fine, but when I asked my AMP-assigned broker about it, he seemed all kinds of confused. I just decided to let it go, but I suppose getting all the details should be interesting.
AMP does not frown upon the use of CQG Trader in any way.
The feed back I have received and reviews I have read on different forums, supports our decision to add the CQG data to our line up.
Live accounts will require different set up confirgurations in order to enable CQG Trader. Email [email protected] your account number and request to enable CQG Trader.
Thanks. A couple related questions, if you don't mind?
1) The CQG+NinjaTrader affords users a Eurex waiver. Are CQG Trader users required to pay for Eurex? I ask because most brokers that offer CQG Trader do not provide a waiver.
2) If one switches to CQG Trader, does the $395 cap go into effect? Is there a $25 minimum like other CQG Trader brokers? Details, of course, but I like to be thorough.
3) Do commissions change since CQG Trader has its own pricing structure? If so, how do they change?
4) Do you allow for the smart order routing features for your clients? CQG has stated that this is up to the broker's discretion.
5) Do you provide access to the CQG Trader API (not the costly CQG API, which is apparently different)?
The answers to these questions all end with "Currently"... AMP reserves the right in the future to change cost structure if AMP's absorption of most cost is not covered by the transactions
1) Yes, AMP provides Eurex waiver
2) No Monthly minimum or $25 monthly fee for CQG Trader
3) Commissions will remain the same - including all volume breaks
4) Yes, AMP allows smart order routing feature - will incur monthly CQG fee
5) Yes, AMP provides access to the CQG Trader API (see details below)
The CQG Trader API supports both market data and order routing functionality:
• Market Data
o Real-time market data
o Last trade and current bid/offer data with volumes
o Depth of Market (DOM) data with volumes
• Trading
o Hosted Exchange Gateway access
o Manual and automatic trade execution
o Trade monitoring
The API can be used for:
• External analytics
• Automated trading
• Exporting real-time data to your applications
Traders can select from two options for the CQG Trader API:
• DOM data for up to ten contracts simultaneously
• DOM data for up to three contracts simultaneously

AMP/CQG disconnection problem was solved for me with last NinjaTrader upgrade 7.0.1000.7. Seems NinjaTrader guys improved CQG adapter and now disconnections either non existent or I don't notice them, pretty fluent operation after NT upgrade.
What I miss is forex data from AMP/CQG, is that possible somehow? Via CQG trader maybe, etc?
I got a demo account to practice ATM strategies as I have not used them on a live account. I've been practicing ATMs for a couple weeks now.
The connection issue with my live account was resolved. However, I began having connection issues on my demo account a couple days ago. Today they are ridiculous, happening every few minutes. Last time, it was the primary connection lost. This time, I'm losing primary connection sometimes, price feed sometimes, and both sometimes.
I also got the following different message:
"Connection to NT historical market data server lost: A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond."
hmm, I would install some software to check connectivity around the clock from your location. Start with your ISP gateway, then all somewhere in the middle of traceroute and finally server IP...
