I’m a French living in Spain and I hear about futures for the first time in summer 2008 reading a book about investment. Since that date, I develop my interest in knowing “what is that thing”.
Now, I’m in a process of transformation of my life: I want to trade for a living.
I’m luky because I loose my job (the firm had close is doors)!!!
That sound very ugly but now I have the most important thing for a man: Time.
So I dedicate my time to learn about futures and to know myself better.
After about 6 month of learning the e-mini S&P, I realize that It’s most a question of mental and psychology (and discipline) than a question of knowledge of markets and any kind of system / indicator.
I decided to come here because after visiting a lot of Forum, The Big Mike’s one seem to be very good, full of knowledge, and above all, full of people with a very positive thinking. Is that what finally convinced me to be here!
I’m trading the ES in simulation mode with Ninja Trader 7 and Zen-Fire.
I will begin reading a lot, but I hope I could help with the few things I learned.
Thank you very much Mike for your work.
P.S.: Apologies for my poor English writing (speaking is even worse because of the French accent)
Hey there, I'm a total noob starting out and use NT/Zen-Fire. Tbh, I did some stupid things at the start, like opening a forex ecn account with FXOpen and trading full lots with the min 2k deposit--oh yeah, that was just effing dumb. Then I tried my hand at ES with TWS BookTrader (IB's platform's DOM), just reading price action and size of contracts clearing at bid/ask. Got lucky, then spurred by that, continued like an idiot and well, you know the drill.
Thankfully, after all that crap, I'm only somewhere like 200 - 250 bucks down, and that's it. I'm out. My IB secure login card's going to be kept in the bowels of Cthulhu.
That's pretty much it. I'm learning the platform now, getting myself familiarized with my tools (funny that I jumped into trades without even doing so beforehand... welcome to idiotville), teaching myself C#, etc etc.
Hey everyone,
I've been a 'lurker' of this forum for about a year. I am a huge fan of volume and orderflow. I have been trading for roughly three years. I am looking forward to contributing to this forum
Hey BM,
I am here because of a review you did comparing Multicharts and Ninja7. I am currently evaluating both and your insights to the backtesting features helped me to see that MC really is a good as I thought. I have been trying to develop with Amibroker, just too much code.
Hi Larry, I am here for the same reason, I had the demo of Ninja and it was just too clunky for me, I am just trying to get Multicharts and my brokerage/datafeed setup if you want to collaborate on anything let me know.
Got into trading after investing in mutual funds for many years while i was working full time.
Been on the forum for a while, i work part time so cant trade every day. Been trading 3 years now on and off when i can, I mainly trade stocks, and trade futures now and then, looking to gain some insight on futures as some days they can be tricky. Had 2 week of winning trades in futures at 2.5 avg a day, only to go into next few weeks and have 2 weeks of losses. Stocks go up or down, futures go 3 different ways some days, so I find stocks easier to trade. As stock like FSLR friday down on earnings, it sank. or AKAM moving up on earnings, volume going to push it higher. Pretty much trade same stocks every day unless there is news on something.
I am more of a price action trader and candlestick trader. Learned about 1 yr ago candles have more meaning than just being pretty green and red. I analyze the volume, sell into peaks and and watch for stocks tradng on above avg volume by comparing it to yesterdays volume. And i trade off of support and resistance, always looking left, and at previous days support, and thats what works for me.
I joined as i have found reading the info here very educational and informative. I use Ninja 6.5 platform, gave up on N7 after spending countless hours wasted this summer trying to get it to work, only to have support tell me uninstall it, then reinstall the next build, it would work one day, and then next day bugs came back. So by the time they get to build 50 or 100 maybe the bugs will be out.
