You've probably thought about this but a problem with creating new and collapsing old forums is the allocation of old posts.
With that in mind, and considering your current structure I would have 3 major sections. Something General ("Traders Hideout" is good), something Commodity Specific (maybe just "Trading Discussions") and something platform specific ("Platforms and Indicators" is good).
SECTION :- Trading Reviews & Data Feeds
Possible name change to "Trading Vendor Reviews"
Not sure what the point of the subsection "Trading Reviews and Vendors" is, seems like that is the whole forum.
Seems like "Data Feeds" would be better suited in the "platforms" Section. Could the rest of this section just be a subforum of "Traders Hideout".
Suggestion. Collapse subforum into main forum, rename "Trading Vendor Reviews" and make make it a subforum of "Traders Hideout"
SECTION :- Traders Hideout
Some of the sections say Trading (Indexs Stocks Crypto Interest Rates) while some say Futures (Indexs Commodities Currencies). Seems like this should be more uniform. I would drop the word Trading.
Mentioned this already. I know you trying to ride the wave and use SEO but "Emini and Emicro Index Futures Trading" should be "Stock Index Futures Trading".
"Currency Futures" should be "Currency Futures & Forex"
Split this forum into two separate forums
Suggestion: Split this forum into two separate forums and make name changes.
SECTION :- Platforms and Indicators
I'm not familiar enough with some of these platforms. I know some have very little activity but I would still keep them as separate forums. Add a "Data Feeds" subforum? Add a "Machine Learning and AI" subforum? Or maybe rename "Matlab, R project and Python" to "Matlab, R, Python & Machine Learning". Alphabetize Subforums.
Suggestion: Alphabetize and minor name changes
SECTION :- Download Indicators / File Sharing
Probably leave as is.
SECTION :- Trading Journals
Suggestion:- Make subforum of Trades Hideout
SECTION :- Psychology and Money Management
I think Psychology and Money Management should be separate sections.
Suggestion:- Make subforum of Trades Hideout
SECTION :- Hire a Consiltant or Programmer
Suggestion:- Make subforum of Trades Hideout
SECTION :- Feedback and Announcements
Suggestion:- Make subforum of Trades Hideout
SECTION :- Off-Topic
Suggestion:- Collapse all and make subforum of Trades Hideout
SECTION :- The Elite Circle
Obviously this is a "Key Section" and as such probably needs to maintained.
Why do "Elite Automated NinjaTrader Trading" and "Elite Easylanguage NinjaTrader Trading" not show up on the main page/list of forums? I bet a lot of people don't know they are here!
Why is there an "Elite Automated Trading", "Elite Automated NinjaTrader Trading" and "Elite Easylanguage NinjaTrader Trading" sections but not Non-Elite equivalents? I do wonder whether we should have a non Elite Automated Trading section but have left that out of my suggestion at this point.
If you want "Elite" to be emphasized shouldn't the Elite sections also show up in the non Elite sections?
Without having given this much thought (yet), I had this question regarding Elite content: clearly we want Elite content to be distinct from non-Elite, but why not have an Elite and a non-Elite section for every larger section, however we slice them?
So, under Trading Journals, a non-Elite and an Elite subsection, and the same throughout.
Pro's and cons:
----------------
Pro's -
- Don't have to duplicate the structure (trade journals, etc.) in two places, Elite and non.
- Easy to implement in the database: have a boolean (true/false) column for Elite. Structure is simple, query logic is simple.
- Easy to give the Elite members a choice of where to post it, Elite or non. (I think this is more valuable for something like trade journals than something that has a broad interest. But still, why not? The choice is always implicit anyway.)
- @SMCJB's point about displaying the sections: "If you want "Elite" to be emphasized shouldn't the Elite sections also show up in the non Elite sections?" I do agree with this.
Cons -
- Right now probably a lot of threads are started in the non-Elite section by Elite members just by default. This is perhaps a good thing from the standpoint of visibility to new people wanting to get an idea whether they want to join, or whether to become Elite, because it gives them a lot of stuff to look at, and Elite members generally just read and comment on anything that comes up. So the visibility to non-Elite viewers would then be a plus, and argues against splitting up everything into Elite/non-Elite.
(I don't want there to be con's, so I didn't think of any more. I'm sure there are some.... Let someone else find them.)
I would definitely change this section. getting rid of the elite circle would make it a lot easier. everything except the "free section" is elite only anyway.
and then maybe some sub categories. like with ninjatrader, you would have ninjatrader 8 and then divided in:
my only suggestion would be to make the elite download/indicators broken up into what platform it is kinda like what you see on the free indicator page.
also I wouldn't mind a index section for all the index's. I know we have the es section in the traders hide out but if we had a compete index section/pop out i think it would get some traffic lots of traders are trading the YM/RTY & obviously the ES.

and good job on the new titles under our names they look good!!

the free indicator page is not free at all, it's all elite except the very last one (free section) I'm surprised that many (most) users don't know that.
It was just that your custom user title was set to Elite Member, so we don't touch custom titles even when you become a Market Wizard. In this case, I added a query to the Market Wizard script so that if the title is specifically set to Elite Member, it will change it to Market Wizard (ignoring that it was defined as "custom").
