I have to leave for yoga, but I am not seeing any errors in logs or other suggestion as to why it's not working for you. I'm guessing something to do with bad cached data when you happened to be browsing the site at exact moment it was serving a bad page, until I fixed it.
You can confirm that in incognito mode.
In the meantime, since I can't wait for your response (need to leave right now), I will go ahead and flush all caches on entire server side to be extra safe.
Yup, cache issue on your side then. Try Chrome incognito to confirm. Then go back to regular chrome and press Ctrl-F5 to force refresh, or Ctrl key + the refresh icon next to URL address bar.
I've reset all caches on server side, but I still think that's not it. back in 90 minutes, anyone that experiencing this error please get me the right-click -> inspect -> console logs.
I totally understand that importance/necessity of effective publicity of these outstanding events to the large user community.
It's just personal preference - but popups can be disconcerting to have on a site you visit often.
On the positive side, this can be exited by tapping the Escape key. It also only shows up once per session, which is good.
On the negative, this does have very excessive animation, taking its sweet time to roll down, appear, and then even more animation once dismissed.
Ideally there could even be a site preference for "disable my event popups".
Like everything on FIO, this is a well-considered addition. But I'm thinking that alternatives, like a narrow one-line banner/overlay that a lot of sites use nowadays, that's displayed once...might also be effective, depending on the ease to implement it.
