I'd say I have 5 to 6 years of trading experience. Though my education was in computers, I thrive on systems of numbers, trends, and analysis. I like many others have lost money in the markets and now know that trading is a science of technique, research, and testing.
Since, I've devoted myself to spread trading, and practicing my risk management in my trades to either lock in solid gains, or minimize losses (taking risk off the table). Naturally, I prefer options, futues and equities for my spreads, but I also strongly believe in a balanced portfolio that does rely on almost every other product out there: ETF's, MFs, Bonds, Cash products, ect.
My intent to join this forum is to ask those tough questions on strategies, usually to grasp a second opinion. I will never ask of any specific advice as that leads to a sour experience. In the end, we all need to make our own choices, but to share strategies might give new thought to the everlasting Journey.
Good Luck All,
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
Looking foward to the comaradery of like minds!!! “I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.”
Let us all move forward together!!
My name is AL and I have be rading on and off for the past seven years with mixed success. I like to trade stock and futures options. I am weak with recognizing price action/ technical analysis. My goal is to gain enough knowledge to recognize where price action is going and then capitalize with options.
I am Alex from Hamburg, Germany and I am new here. I want to introduce myself:
I am trading since 2000 and to be honest was not really successful. I tried a lot of different approaches, from the very simple Ma crosses in the beginning to more complex stuff like Elliot waves and all the sexy indicator stuff out there. Automated trading with tradestation as well.
I interrupted trading 3 times during this12 years. This is my restart number 4, I just miss it.
When I found this forum I was really amazed about the quality and wondered myself why I haven`t found it earlier. Then I realized, that the forum is quite young, so of course I couldn`t find it a few years ago as it was not existing at this time.
Now I`m very happy coming back into trading and this time I will be more slowly !!!
What I can recommend to all the real beginners is don`t rush into trading. Start with a demo. Be honest to yourself and treat the demo as it was real money (no experimental or bored trades). It seems to be very unsexy but this is I think the biggest value I can give from my side. Emotion comes into place and also in my case IMPATIENCE.
Too many markets, too many setups, too much information, too much surfing the internet during trading, these are all factors wich destroyed my chances to be really successful.
I will browse this forum very diligently as I could see from the beginning that here is a total different philosophy than in forums I knew so far.
Thanks to BigMike, who initiated such a great vehicle !!!
Howdy - I am a student of options trading at the moment - I began learning about the markets through Forex, then found out about the Penny Stock world and from there have moved into options trading on large cap stocks, which is where I plan to stay until I have a good mastery of it.
I am finally getting to grips with options trading and have made several successful trades but an equal number of silly mistake trades so am still coming out about even! (slightly pointing downwards ; )
I know what the major reasons are for these losses so the next step is to begin consistently honouring my rules.
I found this site through searching for an image in Google which led me to a Vimeo video which led me here!
I am also about to read Al Brooks' book "Reading Price Charts" and noticed he did a video on Youtube with Big Mike so obviously I am meant to have found this place!
Hi Everyone
I have just joined and please to part of a forum of like minded peopele. Trading can be a lonely business and it is great to join a community. I have been trading futures for two years (ES and Eurex (FESX) ). It has been a steep learning curve and you soon discover that there is no "Holy Grail". I have been with various educators and in the end you realize that there is no right or wrong way in trading. You have to develop your own style that you are comfortable with and keep it simple. Ongoing education is so important in this dynamic business. You never stop learning. More importantly, managing oneself is the biggest challenge.
Been trading for a while, have decided to try and get to grips with the ES, and Ninjatrader. Stumbled across this forum while doing some research on them. My word what a find!
I'm a mechanical trader, and I'm mainly looking to produce some scalping systems to compliment the swing and daily systems I have on other markets.
Hopefully I'll be able to contribute something of worth.
Just a quick hello from down under and congratulations to BIG MIKE for running what I think is the best forum on the internet for traders, keep up the good work. Regards Wayne
