I'm from Belgium, background in banking-IT. Created an options order routing and margining system for the bank where I worked, interfacing with Reuters, ... which spurred my interest in trading.
Have been investing in stock and short term trading in options/futures/turbo's for more than 10 years, but never with a clear plan and varying success. Also spreads on BE and NL market, high transaction costs, ... led me to change my style as hindsight thought me that although I did not bad, I could've just invested in SPY and had similar returns for less risk.
Now I'm more focused on US market (I can "daytrade" after my workhours as US is open when I'm home), and trading with a risk/money management plan rather than just taking a position hoping for the holy grail. I've been reading up at futures.io (formerly BMT)/books... for a few months before starting the new style and now live for a month or two. I'm not trading every day, but I'm up compared to S&P500, stoxx ... so I'm happy so far ! Still a lot to learn though, looking to improve on pulling the trigger, SL placement... At the moment playing it safe with stocks without using too much leverage. Maybe, and if I prove to be consistent in the coming months, and then maybe, I'll look into trading ES, ...
futures.io (formerly BMT) has already given me many new insights for which I'm gratefull so I decided to contribute to the forum by elite membership.
Regards,
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
I have blown through a few accounts in the last 20 years. Each time I do, I swear I'll never go back, but after taking a few years off, something always draws me back in. I have tried stocks, options, and futures. I hope to be able to learn enough to stay in the game this time, but I do know that the answer is not in an indicator or method, but something within me.
These days, I am sim trading the ES. I am a programmer, and have tried to write a few bot's using Investor/RT and NinjaTrader, but so far, profitability has eluded me on live tests. I like the idea of being able to remove myself from the equation by trading with a bot, but as I'm sure many of you are aware, it's not easy. I'll keep working at it.
Thanks to BigMike and the members of this forum! I have already learned a lot (this time around), and hope that someday, when I learn the recipe of the secret sauce, I can meaningfully contribute.
I had no idea that many trader here - i am very excited to see such an active forum. I was talking with my friend this morning about new developments of our broker and he told me to go to futures.io (formerly BMT). I see there is alot of inside talk going on here. The stuff us traders talk about. I can not wait to read everything.
Only just joined from Queensland Australia and trade Futures using NinjaTrader. You have done a fantastic job establishing this trading forum and look forward to checking out all the resources you have made available.
Thank you.
I have heard about the futures.io (formerly BMT) from a good friend that can't stop bragging about it insistently. I'm looking forward to reading more, thank you Big Mike for the futures.io (formerly BMT) and everyone else for contributing.
