Good vs. Bad volatility (filtering out days)

generally i put the ATR indicator on the time frame i am trading and on a time frame 3 to 5 times higher. like 3 min. an 15 min. charts just as and example . i am looking for evidence of a strong push in one direction with higher ATR readings and volume . next the pull back, i want to see lower ATR readings and lower volume. then entry using foot prints and or a order book heat map. the higher time frame needs to confirm a trend in the direction you are trading . important ..... it can not be in a trading range . hope it helps .
