Well today was a bit of a weird day and it was a bit too choppy on CL and very slow on ES.
Messed up a bit on CL but managed to recoup my small loss and end the day BE. Problem was that I couldnt hold onto my good long trades after we dropped quite a bit after the announcement. Today I had a total of 12 trades, 10 CL and 2 on ES:
@mastadee Keep on focusing doing the good things and respect you risk and money management.
You could consider to give your self 2 months to reach the profit goal for the combine.
It will require an extra investment in the combine, but it can help you to keep your risk small and pass the combine.
It is just a thought to consider.
In IB there is a daily P/L alert possible - which could be run in the SIM mode
The trades would have to be mirrored there or entered there which could be difficult for you to update as you trade in and out very quickly. (Perhaps there is an alert in what you are trading??)
Well, today was a pretty bad day where I wanted to make much more than on the previous days. Thought, I should make at least 1.5k to 2k profits and I traded bigger and scaled in instead of sticking to my small SL of 8T. So I lost about 2.7k...well I'm still in the game and didn't break any rules but it will be hard to climb out of the hole. Anyways on my live account I did much better and could afford a couple resets on the combine .
However, that's not the goal and I need to trade according to plan and don't just think it is a sim account. It is a bit harder when it's just "Sim" as I tend to go way too big if I'm losing and have way too small winners...
Anyways, my last CL trade was stopped out and then it finally started the retracement lower what I expected after a steady 3 days of just going up but my stop level was not good as normally the 50.50 (half even numbers always provide some initial resistance) bc my postion was too big and I couldn't afford to have my stop like at 50.53/55 as I would've hit my daily loss limit, also I was onside with this last trade like $500 but I wanted to make my earlier losses of 1.6k back with just one trade. This is stupid because it was clearly a counter trend trade and I should've just booked 400-500 bucks and reenter short higher...oh well
Here are my trades (just 4):
CL:
ES:
I still have about 1.7k risk money available and I'll try to climb out of the hole over the next coming days...still feeling ok bc I could manage some nice gains on my live trading account but on the other hand not happy as I did pretty much the same mistakes like on Monday.
I found one of your comments interesting, as I experienced something similar when I did the combine. There would be days where I'd take a hit on my combine account but make money on the live account. I think there's something to having a "play" account to test the waters, so to speak, before committing real money. It's been more difficult making money in the live account after stopping the combine.
"It does not matter how slowly you go, as long as you do not stop." Confucius
Maybe bc my mind knows it's not real money and hence I can't really stick to the risk limits as I never really wanted to go over max. 1.5k per day. But I shall see how the next days go and if I'll turn it around or give topstep another $100 and then try to make it on a 3rd and last go
Just wanted to say thanks for posting your journal with all the ups and downs . And I wanted to encourage you as aquarian has to keep at it there's a pot-o-gold at the end of the journey I also liked what Hannake said when she said to allow yourself more time to achieve the goal. I have come to realize that it's not how fast I get there but how well I trade each moment of each day that brings success. While I dreamed of finishing my combine in 10 days, in reality it's possible, but unlikely and I have learned that when I focus on either needing to make $XXXX or that I lost $XXXX I make many execution mistakes from either fear or greed. I like many others am still a work in progress but have found more success as I focus more on executing like a professional and less on the $.
Thanks again for the time you put into your journal, and good luck on your journey, we are all in this struggle together, and as long as we're learning each day and working hard to achieve our goal we will get there!
