Familiar story, I made some money trading and then thinking 'I knew it all' I then lost it and more and then more and then.... So eventually decided I didnt know anything and started looking.
Have done various webinars and read quite a few books, mostly rubbish, but a few had some very good pointers. Favourite has to be Jessie Livermore bio's or his own book "How to trade stocks".
Now I don't lose money, don't make much either, but that's progress.
In the UK, spread betting is tax free and because I give enough to the Government with other taxes, I like to spread bet the markets.
Hope to contribute to this forum and continue my learning journey to prosperity.
Hello, started trading commodity futures and options 1999 after taking Ken Roberts course. paper traded a few months then went real time. did well first year. next year i learned the relationship between white metals on tocom exchange when they short squeezed plad.. was short a few contracts plat. 6 to be exact. took a beating. took a lot of haircuts on cocoa floor. up and down a couple years after big first year. ya got cocky. then started cherry picking trades and by them was a tech/fund trader. would ride trend rolling contracts till trend got weak. sometimes a yr or two. also would do a couple day trade when a product got mispriced. also did some day trading.
was up last three years was trading. 2006 had medical problems and was out of trading a year.
drugs the doctors used screwed with my brain and i lost my analytical skills.
paper traded a bit and tryed a few options, but could not regain my touch.
a few years a ago i turned my account over to my wife after training.
started trading in mining stocks and investing in junior miners.
another favorite is to sell puts on beaten down miners and calls on overbought miners, do this in ira account.
Starting to use my wifes ninja trader platform last few months for charting.
got on this board to help my wife and the great sharing of information.
plan a elite membership when i have more time.
My wife is still trading off my orginal account started in 1999, plus i used some money to open an junoir mining account.
Its been an up and down ride and made some money along the way while having a great time.
Still love the markets.
Wish they had this stuff when i started.
love the electronic trading, sucked getting those haircuts (outright scalped) by those crafty pit traders.
i'm the guy that sold the cheapest cocoa contract at least back to 1976.
under 410, looked at trades next day and there was mine at bottom.
didn't use stops back then 2000-2001, but went ice fishing for day and put in sell stop.
still have that months paperwork.
You all have a good one.

Huge blessings to you all, and thanks in advance for reading.
I stumbled across futures.io (formerly BMT) a few years back, when I was a new trader, and I think even introduced myself once before. You know, that time when you are so new, that you don't even know what you don't know yet? Anyway, I spent a small amount of time here, but then moved on, since I wasn't learning where the Holy Grail section was located.
Fast forward a few years, and I am no longer new, and gratefully managed to avoid blowing myself up from trading all together in the process. I have traded literally everything under the sun, and until I found myself getting "in tune" with what truly worked for my personality, I could never achieve consistency or the results I wanted.
I am now consistently profitable month after month trading options, and specifically on the Russell 2000. These are not day trades, but day trading gave me so much insight into my own psychology, that I am fortunate to have survived trying to learn how to day trade. Once I surrendered trying to learn "everything under the sun", and found a style that fit me personally, the biggest "aha" moment happened.
This game is everything about money, and yet at the same time, perhaps NOTHING about money. It is about human behavior, human emotion, human desires, and uncertainties. Accept that, and embrace it, or I promise you will never make it.
At any rate, thanks for reading, provided you made it this far, and I look forward to participating here when I can. I will be insanely happy to share my experiences, and help others avoid making the same mistakes I have encountered in this journey of trading.
Hi all,
I find this kind forum very useful. Thanx for it, Mike!
I'm here for understandig the fear of lose and be able to push on the trigger.
Psychological side is most important for me.

I am from Bendigo Australia and have traded on and off for many years. Some mid/long term on the Austrlian ASX some CFD and more recently options on the US market. I still have a lot to leaning and enjoy doing so.
I am currently listening to ‘Trading in the Zone’ by Mark Douglas. Its a great book about how most fail not because they don’t know how to trade technically or fundamentally but more so because they haven't dealt with the psychology side of trading.
My name is David! I am from Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. I've been trading for a few years now, and have managed to blow up my account! Emotions got the better of me unfortunately. I am here to learn a few new things, and hope to contribute some of my success's, and keep the unsuccess's out of here!
Heard about this site thru a fellow trader and one of my great friends. Since joining I've seen nothing but absolutely outstanding work by all. I love the encouraging tone of the forums so far. Trading as you all can attest can be one of the most mentally taxing things anyone can intentionally subject themselves to...glutton for punishment I reckon .
I'm a former sell side fx trader (5.5 years)...swaps and spot. Decided to strike out on my own. I've recently migrated over to NinjaTrader so just starting to cut my teeth with that platform. I use Interactive Brokers. Any questions for me pls feel free to shoot me a msg.
