Been here a few weeks and realizing how good the info is so I'm finally going through the process of doing an introduction so I can participate!
Been in and out of this for probably close to 15 yrs. Was still living at home when a mailer came from a guy with a cigar and a cowboy hat, I ended up subscribing. First trade was in corn I made 1200. next was pork bellies and I think I lost all the corn profits. Any way, kept funding accounts and buying way out of the money options. No real justifiable system or R/R management. I did run a 1K account up to 10K once..........then back to just over 1K. The broker I ended up using (this was before online futures caught up to stocks) taught me a lot about R/R and selling options (something I was told never to do). Did really well (percentage wise) during the 08-09 crash selling strangles in the es in my IRA acct.
Currently have a self directed IRA in which I buy stocks periodically based on a newsletter I've been subscribed to for years and the occasional futures option spread. Not alot of activity on my part.
Found this forum as I'm working on my day trading. Been simming for a while now, trying to get my edge. I feel my recent biggest accomplishment is actually documenting each trade and rating it based on if I followed all the rules. (you can color cells in excel I found) Funny how once I started doing this there is way more red at the top of my spreadsheet than the bottom! I'm slightly positive now after being down almost 1000.
I've also found that if a trade goes against you on sim, putting as much size on as the platform will allow to average your price just so you can try to show a profit after a reversal is not a learning experience.
Hello fellow trading enthusiasts I have been trading pennies for about 10 years did ok at the start and that was the problem no DD and lots of confidence, well that did not last long he he he
I always had an eye out for options read some books did some research but I just could not wrap my mind around
the concept oh I understood it for the moment but ask me a day later and well you get the idea.
After many years of so so gains in the pennies I opened a think or swim virtual trading platform and have decided
that the leverage options provides can not be overlooked, so I have been learning the bells and whistles of said
platform and progress is slow lol so I thought perhaps there is a place were like minded individuals congregate
and pool there knowledge and help folks like myself find there way in the options universe.
So in my galactic travels I came across this unique trading forum and after reading some of the posts I decided
to join up and give it a go.
Thanks to you all especially Big Mike for this great site.
Hi. I've been a lurking member for about 9 months. I originally registered because I saw notice of an interesting webinar. I have since upgraded to a real membership because I found some valuable information here and felt the site worth my support.
I am a "new-ish" trader. A bit more than 1 year. I have been trading spot Forex. Learning to control emotions, develop patience, and look for only the best opportunities. (I'll be sure to let you know when I have reached that state of Nirvana. Ha Ha.)
My trading interests are somewhat contradictory. I enjoy very short term scalp trades. I also have developed a penchant for intra day swing trades, and the more mature side of my personality keeps dragging me toward a longer term view and multi day trades.
Being an elite member for a some time now, I would like to take the chance to say hello...
I got in touch with this site first due to the exclusive offering of certain indicators for NT. After becoming a member I relatively seldom visited the site, but that increased with time passing. And the last couple of days, I explored the site more intensely and I have to say it is a really nice community with much interesting/valuable content. I hope I can become a valuable community member over time ;-)
I have some experience int he field of trading, foremost in the development and execution of automated trading systems and also the application of some option strategies. My current aims are further improvements in those fields and I also want to give discretionary trading a shot.
Hi, I didn't know I was a member almost over 2 years ago, but introduced again from e-mini_traders_anon.
Totally forgot that I was a member before. Anyway, I am back. I have been trading quite sometime now but my English is not as good as most of you, and afraid to putting any contribution......
Thank you so much for understanding.!!!
I found this great forum a few weeks ago and all I have to say is wow! What a resource of information. I really appreciate all the topics, view points and seasoned traders on this site.
I'm new to futures and have a lot of learning to do. I look forward to being part of this group. I'm sure after I've spent a little time in the normal site, I'll be joining the elite section also.
The many articles on set-ups, price action, management and trade psychology are well worth the time.
Hello All,
I am new here.....I think this is the first trading forum I have found that is really about trading and
there is alot of wisdom to be shared. I am a young trader in the making ....have been trading live for about 6 months
futures and forex. I'm trading less these days and have realized that without the proper training form the inside out
its very futile to have success in this wonderful market. I am interested in learning how the market functions from the inside out and know how to trade that knowledge. I have tried systems with many indicators and it just doesn't suit me......less is more. A friend of mine used to work at Lehman Brothers and got me interested in the possibility ...I learned as much as I could at that time though most of it was over my head. Looking forward to learn from everyone
and than give back when I have the wisdom to share.......Nick
First off, this is a very good forum. Thanks to Big Mike for starting it, and to all contributors for making it so great!
I am Sangreal Quaesitor and I seek the Holy Grail. (The answer is 42, but like many, I don’t know the question). So far, I have only found the Bridge of Death. I have also been duped by the light beacon which I just remembered is Grail shaped.
I have been "dabbling" with markets for a long time. Overall, I am down some substantial money, blown accounts 3 times, spent a small fortune on education materials and courses, and nothing to show for it. I have quit twice in disgust, but I feel drawn back to the screens every time. But, I thoroughly enjoy the challenge of trading, discussing markets, and programming (for lack of a better word) a few systems into Multicharts (which I've migrated to from Tradestation about 4 years ago). I have systems that make Millions$ in backtest but lose everything live. I recently found out why in one of the threads. But, most of all I love trading. This is what I want to do for the rest of my life.
I have coded and experimented on a dozen different approaches, in nearly 100 systems, none of which make real money...but I'm close . I assure you, however, that I'm not a good programmer, though I seem to get the job done.
My mission:
My cup runneth over! I come here in this forum where there are like-minded people, some struggling, some drinking from their Holy Grails. I believe that it is here that I cannot hide. It is here that I can sort out this mental mess I've created. I will do my best to share with you what little knowledge and insight that I have, and contribute in any way that I can.
I will be successful in this quest and it is a matter of fact, but also a matter of time.
New member joining the party. I have no trading experience at the moment but I'm a motivated and driven individual who has been studying trading and self improvement for the past year or so. I'm looking forward to getting new perspectives and ideas on what people believe works in this business and incorporate them effectively into my own style of trading. I'm glad to be apart of this community and hopefully we can all learn from each other.
