Yes, it does look great, until you realize that in each version they break a lot of stuff that worked before and introduce a whole bunch of new issues and they get very, very offended when you complain about it.
They are implementing a lot of things halfway just so that they can list it on their website as a feature and then move on to the next feature. This take them forever then to actually resolve the issues since they are already working on the next feature. This seems they are dedicating most of their resources to implement new features and very little to resolve bugs. For example, this took them forever to get their charting solid and there were many issues with it while they moved on to implement automated execution.
They do have good programmers but no one there have any trading experience and they understand even less what traders really need and want than the guys at NT. And they will argue you to death if you point out a flaw. For example, in the earlier versions, their volume bars were not always constant volume. When for example you use 100 volume bars and a big order of 120 hit, they will plot a 100 volume bar and a 20. Or they will plot 120 at random. Their excuse was that this was done due in order not to overload one's computer. It took a long time and many complains before they cave in and fix it.
I'd be very careful with them. On the surface they look great, but once you start using it, you realize all the cracks in the foundation.
you also might want to look at amibroker.. I dont think there is zen-fire support... but DTNIQ/eSginal is supported...
AFL is basically a subset of C, coming from C# should'nt be difficult to pickup fast.. it is a great platform for system development and doing backtesting..
I should mention I only use it for stocks, not futures; and it does have some flaws, but they dont impact me as I use mainly for strategy testing ... and is not like I fully exploit all the options available within the program...
The lack of users on their forum is because if you point out too many issues, they call you and ask to stop since they are losing revenue due to prospective cutomers seeing all the issues and if you don't, they refund your money and kick you off the forum.
My misunderstanding... as far as the DRM for the actual code protection of strategies... i'm not familiar with it other than I thought it was the same as TradeStation as far as locking the code... don't know how it is actually encoded however.
after using a demo a bit, it is extreeeeeeeeeeeemly fast at optimizing versus TS. i optimized a strat in MC which took 3m45s and same strat in TS took 14min 15sec.
thats amazing. i am 3.2ghz 64bit quad core 4g ram
other nice thing is it can optimize and manage a portfolio for you, TS cant.
huge drawback is you cant place orders from MC, aparently you can automate IB (but they suck) or thru zenfire. ironicly cant thru TS and you still cant place descretionary orders regardless of who you use
GentleTrader mentioned MarketDelta earlier in this thread and I was also wondering if any here had either direct experience, or indirect experience of using it?
I've seen it recommened before, and have only looked at it briefly, so would be interested to know what experiences people have had with it.
Lots of good posts and info, thanks guys! Some of it scary... But most of it good.
I'm still working to port over my indicators -- futures.io (formerly BMT) CollectiveMA, futures.io (formerly BMT) Envelope Expansion Fib Bands, my PaintBar's, and my custom versions of the CMI DayOHLC and Weekly pivots. It will only be after this that I can use the platform as I would like to, so we'll see where it takes me.
I will post the EasyLanguage code for the above after I get it converted (for Elite members).
