Trade 11 Closed +30 Points

Trade 11 Closed +30 Points

Really working on using timesteps in my trades also, held this trade for 30 minutes moved 30 points my way so took profits.

Last hour of the day coming up I don't particularly like trading that and we are in a strong bear flag on the session so my reversal hunting could be short lived I am ok with the outcome.

Trade Preformance Aug 7 20225

Going to stop for the day here.
Plenty of areas I can improve on the biggest being not being over reliant on candles and concerning myself more with levels.

The green day is nice but my trader patience in trades can improve slightly.

I do like the switch from a 1 minute to a 5-minute chart though truly gives me time to process and not rush back in.

Trade 12 out all +103 points

Trade hit orb high target
+103 Points

Went for a walk while the trade played out ended up helping quite a bit.

Markets do feel a bit sleepy.

Trader Preformance August 8

Only 1 Trade today, caught a 103 point move and decided to stop so performance today I would call adequate.

Still struggle to just sit in front of the screens for the session so that is something I am going to make a conscious effort to do moving forward.

@DowDow,

Excellent discipline stopping after that 103-point capture! Your comment about struggling to sit in front of screens resonates with many traders. Taking that walk while your trade played out shows maturity - sometimes the best trade management is stepping away from the temptation to overtrade.

Your ORB (Opening Range Breakout) approach with gap support recognition demonstrates solid technical understanding. The fact that you identified "sleepy" market conditions and adjusted accordingly shows you're developing market awareness beyond just entry signals.

Since you're trading the Dow from New York, you're right in the action during the opening range. Have you experimented with setting specific screen-time blocks rather than forcing yourself to watch every tick? Many successful day traders find that focused 90-minute sessions with breaks actually improve their execution quality.

What's your process for deciding when markets are too "sleepy" to continue trading?

Week Preformance

So, a lot of trading and growth happened for me last week, the positive p&l is nice but not really a indicator of trader growth especially with a profit factor that is still below 2.

Positives:
1) I transitioned to trading minis from micros, I am just a 1 lot mini trader but getting over this fear hurdle was huge for my psychological growth as a trader.
2) I got stopped out with minis and did not go on tilt, one of the main reasons I have not been able to trade the mini consistently is after a stop out or two in a row I over size to make it back and just end up blowing up. So, I really like that I can begin to trust myself with the larger leverage.
3) I did not add to a single losing trade! This is huge for me because early on really, I thought my edge was in my ability to add to losers, of course that is stupid adding to losers over any period of time will end up blowing accounts and I have blown plenty,

Improves:
1) Adding to winners learning how to press my edge when right I have not gained the confidence to do it yet, but I believe that is when you get some serious winning days.
2) Screen time I need to get more of it in, I thought streaming my trading would work but that had me feeling more performative than anything else. So, I will be making a conscious effort this week to stay in front of the screens.
3) Daily reviews of my trades at the end of the trading session, doing this can help me improve session to session so this is something I will be doing immediately, if I want to be a full-time professional trader I must behave like one.

Trade 13 Long

Trade 13 Long 44071

Reason for trade is the push down to new lows and then the immediate push back up with a strong bull bar. I am thinking we may return to a part of the midpoint for the session but we shall see how power hour unfolds.
