I'm a new member and a new trader as well; still trying to find a style that suits me, so currently just working scalps on sim only; futures.io (formerly BMT) is a great forum -- so much knowledge -- and so many willing to share. Awesome!!
Hello, I am new to trading and trying to slowly build my knowledge and strengths while preparing to leave the rat race. I am exploring everything from day trading stocks, to forex, to options. Glad to find such a great community here ready to help each other succeed. I hope to be able to contribute something along the way.
I hope I am in the right thread. I am introducing myself after joining almost 2 years ago. I have been overwhelmed with the accumulation of information from various expensive sources and am finally seeking information that does not have monetary price tag. I listened to some of Linda Raschke's recent webinar (May 6, 2013 and was relieved to find that she espoused many of the beliefs that I have come to cherish such as the availability of free information. It is finally dawning on me that there are a number of truly generous people who like to share their ideas. I see now that I have awakened from expensive training and being weighed down by the necessity to financially make up those $$ by trading the wisdom of keeping it simple.
My favorite "gurus" are now Al Brooks, Linda Raschke along with IBD and its members.
One huge difficulty I have had comes from having very little computer knowledge when I started so the learning curve has been complicated by that and still is to some extent....oh, to be a programmer!!
I would like to thank Mike and all the contributers to this site for providing so many educational tools and often with warmth and humor. I intend to explore them in the future.
The thing with trading is that it can be etremely boring. So I'm looking for new ways to improve, to create, to learn, to adjust. And after first look at forum...well, for sure it is maintained properly. I like it here and I hope you'll like me here too.
New to this trading and sharing community. Ive been trading a little over 2 years and it has been a roller coaster for the 1st year and a half. I finally started to find my trading style in the last year but at times old habits take over and performance is compromise, but I guess thats normal. So far this forum has been very educational. The webinars are the best features especially FT71's webinars. Im glad to be part of such a community.
Thanks BM for starting this forum and thanks to all you coders who share your trading indicators.
Hello all,
I started trading 15 yrs ago...using a Broker...because they MUST know a lot more about stock stuff than I do.
Brokerage House when my accounts were closed..
#1 check fromCowen & Company, NY, drawn on Chemical Bank...Amt = $********1.00
#2 check from WorldCom Settlement Fund Merrick, NY on Signature Bank...Amt = $********0.81
After having 2 accounts 'churn' $164K to $0, I decided I could not do any worse on my own.
I began a journey to educate myself and make my own trading decisions. I bought EVERY new trading package that came out...the very first one came on one of those little 5 inch paper disks. 6 major systems that all 'promised' great things, but didn't generate revenue. I began reading trading books...and that brings me up to today.
Now I earn my living on trading...about 10X my SSI.
(one former trading forum told me this was a 'pretty' insignificant amount.)
ABOUT MY METHODOLOGY:
Platform is eSignal (Interactive Data)
I trade LONG only securities. consider myself an Intermediate Term Swing Trader...(Position Trader).
Hold 5 positions at one time.
Not a programmer, but taught myself enough EFS programming to automatically 'spot' turning points up or down.
I've been on many trading sites but haven't seemed to 'hook' up yet.
I'm anxious to learn from other traders and open to share my successes.
When we 'exchange' Ideas, we keep our original idea and gain a second.
Combining 2 ideas can lead to a 'third' idea...One Plus One = Three...Synergy
Good Trading,
Peter.
Hi Mike,
I found your site while googling for info on how to trade using ninjatrader...your site kept popping up and so I just had to join. it seems to have all the info I need.
Anyway just wanted to say good job and hope I can give as much as I get from this forum(...and eventually give more when I become a guru).
