Hello futures.io (formerly BMT) Community,
I have been 'lurking' for a long time, enjoying the threads without participating. Last night though, I had a revelation that I think will make any of my contributions helpful to at least someone out there. Now I have permission to speak:-).
I have a special thanks for Big Mike, for creating this space.
Also: Sefstrat, for d9PA; HJay, for his VSR Indicator; and finally Jeff Castille, for the good idea of his that you can do well with very little; albeit, it would have taken me a lifetime to learn to code anything nearly as good as those indicators I just mentioned.
Finally to my revelation: Fear is its own enemy, and your best friend --- at the end we tire of it and shake it off like a bad habit.
If you can stick to a bad position because you are 'convinced you are right' and prove it to yourself that you were indeed wrong, you'll find at the end and hopefully with not too large of a loss that you survived.
If after this experience, really diving on the stress of this thing (the trade, your boss, your spouse; whatever you thought you would die without; you get the point) going against you. You will find that just as is with death, you will make it.
Sorry, I am starting to ramble here.
My point is:
"A good set of indicators that give you a good, historically grounded setup you can count on, will be right more often than you and the believes you may hold at any given time. Statistically you will have and edge". What is hard is to go through the hell of fear...
Thanks again Big Mike for this nice place.

Hello all. I have been playing around the edges of trading for about 3 years. I used live accounts on 2 occasions and got burned. Went back to sim. I am struggling for consistency. I have a lot of winners but am having a hard time accepting the losers. Need to learn to stick with trades for a longer period. I seem to abandon the good trades too soon and stick with the losers too long. Probably not much different than anyone else. Getting closer though and hope to pick up some pointers from you knowledgeable people on this forum.
I have dabbled in trading for many years. At one point I traded full time but couldn't really do better than break even. Emotions ruled my trading and I was constantly getting in my own way....
I am looking forward to getting to a point where I can trade again...I will most likely incorporate options in my new strategies (still working on the exact rules im going to use). Nothing too fancy but I think options will take away some of the negative emotional factors... as well as some profit factor..thats ok though, as long as I'm consistently profitable I'll be alright....I have mostly traded with TradeStation but have recently spent some time on NinjaTrader...I like them both don't know which platform I'll trade on yet...Maybe both..TS on one computer and NT on another computer both with seperate internet providers...you can never be too safe...
Thanks for this blog Mike. I really like what you share (indicators, info, blog, etc) i'll do my best to contribute where and when I can...
Hello everyone. I just joined this forum and am anxious to share with and learn from everyone. I have been trading the es minis for about 2 years now with mixed results. I feel my greatest challenge is taking my trade setups without the fear. My backtesting of my setups shows a great deal of promise but when it comes time to pull the trigger, that's when I stumble. Looking forward to this forum.
Hello Everyone I have been looking at trading the markets for quite sometime 3 years but needed to see what software would fit me and I needed to obtain some knowledge in order to make a go of this. I have read so many books in the last 3 months but i think the light is starting to come on. I read Dr. Elder books trading for a living and Come into my trading room and it really has helped me develop a trading plan. I am currently test driving ninjatrader (Demo Trading)and I look the chart trader feature. I have IQ Datafeed as my data vendor. I am a CPA by profession so record keeping comes natural regarding my trades and profit/loss. Currently trading currencies and enjoying the learning experience. Does anyone know if I can obtain an auto Envelope channel indicator that auto fits to the price action of whatever currency pair I am trading.
Glad to be hear looking forward to learning a whole lot from this community.
Hello - quick intro. Just joined the forum, found it when I was searching for NinjaTrader indicators. My real name isn't Mr Bean but if I could have 1 share of a stock for everytime someone told me I look like him I'd have a lot stock.
I live in Japan but I'm from down under , I recently started playing KOSPI options as they are very liquid , very low risk so great for low emotion trading to work on your trading method without getting in your own way, if you know what I mean. Cheers!
I also trade US stocks , made some decent $ during the last bull but lost it alll during the bear, now I'm tenaciously investing again. I know, I know, I missed the easy money!
I think this is a common problem, and if you are anything like me you will have a hard time pulling the trigger on ES because it has too much risk to it for your personal tolerance. You will end up getting out before your target is hit and you will take losses too quickly etc etc etc. You might want to try something with less risk such as SSO SPY QQQQ etc (assuming you are not triggering that stupid PDT rule. That's why I've started trading KOSPI options - about $1 per tick, very liquid.
I have been reading the blog for a while and thought I should sign up for the forums. I have traded for ....let me see.... probably 15+ years so have experienced most of the up's and downs that traders go through. My main home is over at 'TL' forums (not sure what the policy on mentioning other forums is so will leave it vague).
Anyway hope to make time to call in here once in a while.
