Yep I agree that's why I didn't say it made him a good trader.
I was under impression it was the very tight money management rules that stopped most out.
Not being pedantic just that he will have at least something to offer (but not for cash) ie like advice on passing top step. And top step is widely recognised as not a bad (sorry) concept, whether it works is another thing.
Interestingly enough I only read his introduction in this thread which left me shaking my head...then to see the amount of thanks given to his intro post left me shaking my head even more.
exposing myself as a legit participant. I will not admit that I have made no trades today...nor will I say that I have no idea about direction or risk in the market. I will hide my true identity by choosing what animals get in line to feel the coals as game time approaches. Further, I proclaim that at 12 noon and one second I will not be cracking open any type of adult libation.
Markets I might trade on the 50,000 btu heat exchanger method: Pork, chicken, beef, crustaceans, and fish that swim in the sea.
I am not an old pro, but I may find Knob Creek of a fine single malt not in a red solo cup...and to prove this to you all I might post a picture of myself with said Knob, a cigar, and my middle finger protruding upward resistance.
I stopped by Alex's room this morning. He didn't bad-mouth Big Mike or anyone else. He addressed the issue in what I felt to be a pretty clear, humble, and sincere way. I know I don't have the standing in the community, being a newbie, to really go to bat for him. But my two cents is that there has been some misjudgment here, and if I may, a bit of a witchhunt. I understand there is a lot of good reason for suspicion in this industry. And we could argue the merits of Alex's trading methodology. But I don't think his intentions are what some people have been claiming.
He showed his ID in his room this morning. He's not a 40+ year old man. He uses a different last name for understandable reasons (I don't see many people on here who list their last names at all).
He originally intended to charge for the room, but after talking with Big Mike and others, he decided to do it for free and since that point has not, to my knowledge, said otherwise. He claims to have no intention of charging for his room now or in the future.
As for leading other traders astray: he has repeatedly told people that they have to do the work of developing their own method. He never claims to have a holy grail method. He says this is what works for him and others have to find what works for them. He always discourages shadow trading. I don't see him setting himself up as a fraud. He feels he found something that works for him and he's eager to share with others.
If anyone gets on there and thinks they can just take everything he says as gospel, then they're going to get hurt no matter what. In my mind the process of learning to trade is a very organic one where you sift through reams of theories and ideas and piece together something that makes sense. You test it. You throw away the bad, keep the good. And try again. I have found Alex to be a willing source of information that I can take and test.
Again, just my two cents, but I feel like he is not the fraud people are claiming and is a person who genuinely loves the community here. He has never said anything bad about FIO or Big Mike. Even on the call today, he was very respectful and even defended Big Mike to others who were angry. He did say he was pretty disappointed and hurt that he was banned without Big Mike even talking to him about it.
Hi everyone,
I wanted to post an update, I don't know if this will change the banned status for Alex or not but I hope it clears up concerns folks have.
First I have no connection with Alex I don't believe we have even traded more than 1 pm before but I have attended most of the live trading meetings.
I especially wanted to attend this morning so I could hear his prospective and also see if we could better understand his intentions going forward.
He actually showed his drivers license showing he is 18 and laid out his intentions that he has no plans with or without the ban to charge anyone a dime for what he is doing.
He expressed how important futures Io has been to his development as a trader and never wanted to do anything to put that in jeopardy.
All of the links and post showing he might charge were thoughts he had in the past, same with his vendor affiliations they were in the past and he has no vender affiliations to sell anything.
From what I can see we have someone willing to help at a cost to him and he is not charging us anything.
If that changes I'm sure everyone in the room would be quick to post the change from what I can see these are not his intentions.
Rick
