yes, that's is exactly my understanding as well. without tick replay you don't have historical bid/ask.
most providers offer two options:
- bid/ask values that require tick replay
- up/down tick values that do not require tick replay
the reason I asked for a screenshot was to determine if bid/ask or up/down tick were used. and no doubt, bid/ask was used. one other possibility would be to use bid/ask with no tick replay and you don't turn your computer off. because as soon as you do (or you do a refresh), all historical values would be gone.
Maybe I misunderstand how "tick replay" works.
But MZ Pack which I said I like and I think is the best monetary deal, requires you to click "tick replay" enabled to display their footprint and some other chart indicators.
While I have said another product, specifically their footprint does not need tick replay enabled, yet I am able to see the same historical bid/ask in their footprint.
I use it just a Long Time, since ninjatrader 7 and submitted some ideas for development.
For historical charts, you Need to enable tick replay, if you wish to see the real contract traded.
Otherwise you can record live the contracts traded and then you can Display Them historicaly.
If you dont have tick replay enabled, you can use BID/ASK Tick History. This is just a tick value and not the contract traded, that was realy traded.
It is allmost the same, but in the key points, it Can make the differents.
If you use MZPack without Tick Replay, you also will see live incoming data. That recorded data you could display historicaly.
In MZpack you Can also Switch the calculation based on Ticks Values. In that case you Can use it without tick replay.
MZPack for NT8 has an artificially created issue: the license verification.
I find myself unable to use it properly because sometimes when starting Ninja MZPack has an license error. For this you have to open a ticket and wait for 1/2 hour up to a day to get the confirmation the issue is resolved.
After that you have to restart Ninja.
If your Ninja crashes you'll always get an license error.
Also, do not expect to be close to Ninja's Order Flow build in indicators performance.
