I'm new to the forum and and to trading in general. I dabbled in stock and mutual funds in the 80's and 90's. I started trading options in 2000 and did real well at first and then the bubble burst. After the smoke cleared and I lost a lot of money, I quit trading altogether.
I retired this past year and I need something to occupy my mind and time. I decided to look into trading Futures or Forex and a limited basis to start.
I'm hoping to get a lot of information from this site.
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
I'm in my final year of my science degree and hope to be going onto a postgraduate degree afterwards. I don't think that I'd be able to hold down a job whilst doing the postgraduate (really crappy hours), so I'm going to give trading a shot.
hi everyone,
have been using Big Mike Forum for a few months now primarily to get historical data from the download section, which is a great resource.

I've been trading the ES contract for about a year now. I do it full time. To be honest, I make enough to support myself but have never really gotten to the point of a "breakout" where I can do really well with it. Something is missing and I just can't figure out where it is hiding! Anyway, I have some expertise. I normally use Fibos and various points of support and resistance to trigger my trades. I will also trade bull and bear flags. Don't use any indicators at all.
If I can help others, GREAT. If others can help me, GREAT. So far this place looks really cool.
I'm a 72 year old ... old fart ... who has been trading/day-trading stocks full time for about 2 years. Lost my shirt for a year and a half but have now been profitable for about 9 months. Prior to this I was a successful corporate executive.
I have become a cautious stock trader and now have a 'win" rate exceeding 90%. However, I'm concerned because this win rate has been developed in the last 9 months when the market is in a significant market upswing. I have no reason to believe my strategies will hold up in a down market.
I am attempting to learn how to successfully trade futures ... leaning to the ES ... and want to learn how before I plunge in. I would appreciate and need all the help U can get.
Hi, from Montreal, Quebec here. I'm a newcomer to trading, currently practicing on TD's Active Trader platform (dummy account). I'm trading manually right now to get a feel of how things operate. So far, I've been in the positives *knocks on wood* and I'm looking to expand my knowledge. I'll be trading with real money at the end of this month if everything goes according to plan... we'll see!
I am from cincinnati. 29 and have been dabbling and studying trading since I was 17. I have yet to find success, even a little! Even though I feel like I do everything right. I think I just need to find an edge, which has me manually testings systems over back data. Hopefully I will find the right strategy! This seems like a good place. I'm used to EliteTrader where everyone is at each other's throats. This seems like a healthier environment. Good luck everyone!
Found this forum by chance in Google, was searching for an answer to this question:
Is there a difference in the data feed of a Demo account and a Simulated account in a Ninja Trader/Zen-Fire platform?
My adventure in trading the futures markets started back in 1994 when I received the part one of Ken Roberts Course.I read it and to be honest did not apply it.Only remember reading about the 123 formation for the first time, which was very subjective.
The first market that I traded was the 30yr T-Bonds and all I did was buy when there was a big sell off and wait for the market to start going up. So one day my profits were very good on 14 contracts. Using CNBC and watching the delayed 10 min ticker on the bottom of the screen, it was fun to see how easy it was to win, until one day financial analyst Karen Gibbs of CNBC said very quicky, " The T-Bonds are making a head and shoulder formation" . My position was Long at 118-20 and it was trading about 132-00. At the time I was very busy with an Import/Export business and when I came back from an overseas trip, the market had fallen down through my price and hit my stop loss beyond by a few points.
In 1998 started trading part time an online account and in 2009 won Second place in the Strategy Runner International Trading Tournament.
Now trading full time for a living but still learning. Using Ninja Trader/Zen-Fire.
