This sounds good Mike, though sites like forexfactory and bloomberg, etc., have consensus, prior readings, revisions, and pretty quick posting of the numbers, so my guess is that anyone who cares about the numbers and does not simply want a reference to the time will probably use those other sites. In other words, you might not want to pour a ton of work into it until you make sure that others will actually use it. To be honest, unless it had the same features and did a better job than forexfactory, which is quite sufficient, then I probably would not personally use it.
As far as the actual news items, financial traders may want to see the government debt auction times, especially for the 10 yr and the like. And, having a reminder of what's coming up in China and the eurozone might appeal to some (like the Chinese manufacturing and GDP numbers which are always market moving in the US overnight session, and like Italian and Greece bond auctions). Basically, what FF has is good, except they for some reason do not have the Dallas Fed number which I like to see. I'm not sure many folks would care about the agricultural news events, though maybe there are more ag traders here than I'm aware of.
As always, thanks for the amount of work you put into the site. You keep things constantly moving and shaking, and it's much different from most other sites that function exactly the same (and as poorly) as they did 5 years ago.
Thanks. It's more a reminder of important news events from a time standpoint, not meant to care about the result of the news. I don't trade news so I guess that's the way I think and approach it, I don't care about the results, I just want to know if a report is coming.
First off thanks for the whole place - its an amazing resource of top stuff!
Second, I have noticed a minor issue with the 'Mark Forum Read' button - owing to the high level of activity on futures.io (formerly BMT) it is possible to miss posts that have not yet made it into the 'New Posts' count or the active new posts display after clicking the count - i.e. the button code is not real-time locked to the last time the list or count was put in front of the user.
Maybe this is generic to vBulletin/whatever and dare say you/many may already be aware of it, I'm still a newbie here so don't know, a search turned up nothing in the archives.
My mini-workaround is just to keep an eye on the small scrolling window of posts immediately after using the MFR button.
Deleted the Twitter activity block off the forum homepage, for multiple reasons. a) In the last couple of months I've had no time to Tweet due to my illness and then catching up on futures.io (formerly BMT) work and projects, b) the Twitter.com domain would often slow down the forum homepage load time, c) I didn't receive the level of sharing from members that I was expecting (receiving marked up charts, etc to retweet) so it wasn't worth drawing attention to it.
Loving this joint, personally not bothered about chat but want to optimise how I keep up with the volume of posts so, with that in mind, is there a way already or any chance to have a pop-out of just the mini-post scrolling list, without the chat window?
Just a quick thank you for the improved ordered/unordered list functionality when creating posts. Much quicker and more user friendly. (not sure when this change was made, it's the first time im using this in a couple weeks).
Thanks for the constant updates and improvements. Im not aware of any other forum with as much effort put in to keeping up with the latest technology.
