I am planning some changes to the categorization of the Downloads section, something that is long overdue.
All downloads are Elite only (with exception of the PAS indicator, the 1 out of over 1000 in total), so the Elite-only category itself needs to go away, and all the files within need to be recategorized appropriately.
Also with NT8 coming and all the code breaking changes, we definitely will need a section for NT8-specific uploads.
I am thinking the categories might be:
- Custom bar types
- Indicators
- Strategies
- Miscellaneous
My issue is that we're seeing more and more things like custom DOM's, custom chart traders, custom toolbars, and the like -- so I am looking for suggestions on how to name a category that would cover all of these types of tools. I don't think they should go in Miscellaneous, as I mainly envision that being used for things like research/analysis/export type tools or other oddball things that don't fit elsewhere.
I would either just put them into the indicator category as NT calls them indicators or maybe have a category called extensions/add-ins. I know they are not "classic" indicators, but the programming interface is called indicator by NT so it might be the least confusing way to just put them in there, it's not ideal, but neither is the other option...
About the moving of the files from elite downloads to the appropriate category, how will that be done? Would it be possible to perhaps just assign it to a different category (by the OP, so you don't have all the extra work)? What would happen to links pointing to the old elite downloads? Will they be updated automatically or broken?
I've completely rewritten the Polls system. This is mainly for my benefit, it will be a big time saver going forward. Also the new system will allow me to embed polls directly into any post, helpful for discussion threads focusing on a certain poll.
Currently there are several bugs, mainly formatting, so please ignore them for the moment. I'm working on fixing them.
a) Bug: title not centered
b) Bug: can change vote after cast
c) Bug: Random poll insertion into posts broken
What I am leaning towards currently is waiting until the NT8 beta drops, and then:
- Create new NinjaTrader 8 sections
- Prevent new uploads to 'The Elite Circle' if the indicator is for NT8, instead forcing it into the NT8 section
- Leave 'The Elite Circle' links as-is for existing material, NT7 links, non-NT material, etc and eventually it will just be deprecated on its own
At approximately 8:00 PM eastern time, futures.io (formerly BMT) went down. It took me about 1 hour to start looking into the problem (was taking some time off). It took another hour to bring the site back up after checking numerous things for any indication as to the cause. The site was down for approximately 120 minutes.
All users who logged in were receiving a message that they had been BANNED if they logged in after 8PM eastern.
This is incorrect. It was a server error that I am still working to identify. I have corrected the issue, but will continue looking for the underlying cause.
I have notified approximately 200 users who logged in and saw the message via email.
The current thinking is cache corruption. I have taken a few steps so that should this issue occur again, it should be detected and resolve itself almost immediately (within 60 seconds) and notify me. Thanks to for assistance with the detection and resolution script should it happen again.
I am deploying new servers to futures.io (formerly BMT) very soon (have been working on it for months, due to lack of time it is taking forever) and hopefully any underlying issue that caused this problem will be resolved once everything is updated with the new deployment.
