NT 7 seems pretty stable - OS Win7 - however there are some features could be better.
ex.: Charting on TOS is a lot more usable compare to NT. I can't bring 1 point up at the moment what would be better on NT. There are some "neat" stuff such as one can display shorter time frame in a longer time frame bar however I believe that is not needed for successful trading.
NT charts are usable however if you don't have anything else.
Well not everything is perfect clearly TOS data feed was frozen this morning for ~10 - 15 minutes or so.
What I do like to really post here that I did experience this morning something weird with NT and did sent a note to support. In my mind it is a bug.
Summary, I've submitted /es orders to IB via NT charts and they were executed on the Sim account as well.
I can imagine that could happen the other way around as well meaning you are enabled for "real" account testing something on Sim and "accidentally" submitting orders to you "real" account as well. I did not have a chance to test this scenario yet, regardless be careful out there. I will post any follow up here.
See my email details below to NT support:
"The setup as follows 2 charts one 2 minutes using my IB account the other 5 minutes using the sim101 account as default.
Both has chart trader on since my default template.
I've noticed when I've submitted an order via chart trader /stop buy or sell or at the ask or bid/ to my IB account the sim101 account will execute too.
That is already odd why on earth this would happen.
The next thing is when my stop or profit target orders /I would adjust the ATM strategy as the market goes/ are hit on the IB account the same won't happen for the sim account.
I take this as a bug since trades SHALL NOT execute on ANY other account only on what is intended to in default.
If this would be an extra feature - ex.: to link accounts - than this shall be an additional option which shall be manually set by the user NOT SET AS DEFAULT."
Ok, so you have 2 different time frames on one chart, and you executed via chart trader using IB, is that correct. Im asking so i know what the bug is....
no question that's a bug.. the DoM needs to be true to the Account it is set to... this could cause a major problem... please keep us posted on what NT tech support says
I just did a live trade to test again and indeed, ninjatrader is automaticly putting this order in the list on the SIM account, why in the hell is that needed for ?
Your ATM template likely has the Shadow strategy predefined. Make sure you check all your ATM strategies and remove any associated Shadow Strategies and save them again.
