Greetings to all!

I am a physicist by training working in prop trading shops as a quant for quite a couple of years, with some trading mixed intermittently (HFT when it was called automated program trading and commodity options) - I hope to develop more for thinkorswim options platform, some implied-realized spreads, forward volatility on earnings would be of interest, weekly options focus - hopefully (wish list) looking at some macro pairs sp-crude sp-yen, aud-gold cad-crude gold-silver (intraday), vix, leveraged ETFs, let's see - biotech space ... although as a platform for automated trading IB would be obvsly much better (and cheaper transactions) - one could implement some more sophisticated signals (not that they'd work better :-)) ...
Looking fwd to bounce ideas, best radupaul

Hi BM Forums,

Thank you for saving me hundreds from purchasing fake programs and education courses. I've been wandering these forums and it has help me navigate through the hardest part of trading... getting started from scratch. I want to learn to trade Futures ES mainly.

Just learned about candle sticks, OHLC. Trendiness, Moving Averages, Bollinger Bands, Fibonacci, all the boring stuff. Getting set up with an account and ready to blow through some trading accounts.

Woot.

Ali

Hi everyone,

Just joined recently, figured my first post might as well be here. I'm in the Central Florida area.

Been trading on and off for a few years, the "off" portion is due to work scheduling and/or having money in other places like a few rentals. Now with the mobile technology vastly improved over the past few years, I can comfortably manage my trades anywhere, which was a big hangup previously. So I decided I needed to be more consistent in my trading efforts and have an account that I won't "touch" for other stuff, just keep adding to it (and hopefully building equity along the way too ).

Primary goals are short term option trading, I prefer mostly non-directional stuff, spread trading, etc. Seems to suit my personality.

Secondary goals as I build the account are some short-to-medium term equity trades on stocks or companies I like. I'm a big fan of selling puts to acquire stock.

Nice forum! Lots of information!

Thanks,
David C.

Hello Fellow Traders - I am glad I found Big Mike's forum. The amount of information here is overwhelming as is technical analysis as it relates to day trading. I am as new as a baby eaglet getting ready to take to the wind of day trading. Which is about as predictable as knowing which way the wind is going to blow on any given day. I have time to learn. Doing sim trading now and plan to go live June 1st.

Hi!
I joined this site after listening to Kevin Davey and Adam Grimes on Youtube.
Both gentleman are awesome!

I have been trading futures and commodities successfully since the mid nineties. My methods are basically discretionary, chart reading and fundamentals on the daily/weekly.

I have been a software developer for 15 years (C#, java, android, Sql server, oracle etc). I think with my background I could also be successful building a trading system. Hopefully, I can learn from fellow trades and to share my experience.

I also am pretty decent coding Easy Language.

Thank you Big Mike!

John

Hi everyone. I have never done any active trading (have the 401K, IRA in mutual funds) and decided I wanted to start learning. After doing some "google" searches, I came across this forum and decided it might be a good place to learn or get some basic advice.

In my searches also came across many of the "trading academies" for $5K plus for classes - anyone done those? or recommend one over the other?

Lot more reading to do on this site -

Look forward to learning and thank you in advance for any advice.
Scott

I am pleased to have access to Big Mike's Trading forum as a resource.

I am a former proprietary desk head (Sanwa Bank London) and currently a resident trader living in Portland, Oregon trading futures on the CME.

Blowups? Nah.... LOLZ. oh yeah. I remember each of them like it was yesterday.
Nobody forgets that gut wrenching blanket covering depression that goes with the blowup.

Thank you for hosting the forum Big Mike.

Hi everyone. I'm new to NexusFi (formerly BMT). I've been trading about 30 years. Mostly stocks, etfs, options. I have made plenty of mistakes. I was brought to this site by recommendations for NinjaTrader users. I currently use amibroker for my scripting and am looking at switching to NinjaTrader. Writing in Ninjascript seems a bit more straightforward. There are a few functions in amibroker I haven't figured out how to do in NinjaTrader, but I'll get it resolved soon. I also code in C# which helps make the transition easy.

I am mostly a swing trader. I have dabbled in everything from day trading to long term but always come back to intermediate time frames. I look forward to learning on NexusFi (formerly BMT).

I traded stock options at the CBOE from 1986 to 2010. The world is different trading online. I believe that a forum such as this is vital to your success. Being a floor trader exposes you to many different ideas and opinions. You miss that when sitting in front of a computer.
I'm new to the blog but look forward to spending time here learning from the community!
Best to all,
Jim
