I didn't read carefuly Alinghy's post.
D9System.cs is a Strategy, not an Indicator.
So, if you move D9System.cs from your Indicator folder to Strategy folder, it should work better...
As a strategy, it worked. But if I moved it to indicator folder, after recompilation, nothing shows up in the indicator list. I am not sure if it is possible to use strategy as an indicator. Please advise.
Your system seems very interesting. I created a chart and have been going through it trying to understand the setups and triggers. One question I have is this: do you anticipate a crossing of the D9 before it actually happens? I notice on my chart I don't get the signal that the cross has occurred until the bar completes, and by this time I'm already at least 4 ticks further away from the entries your showing on your charts. In many cases its a very good trade anyway, but in a couple cases you show (and in many more on other parts of the chart) I would be entering the trade after I'm already very close to the other Bollinger Band--meaning at that point I should be looking for a trade in the opposite direction. E.g. on trade #1 on 11/10/09 I would have gotten the confirmed cross at the same time the price had reached 1088.50 (the start of the next range bar after the one that gave the cross signal). This would have me entering the trade more than half way to the other BB. So do you see the cross is imminent and trade the break of the bar? I don't see how else you could get such early entries. Or maybe I'm not understanding this so well.
So I made a real trade in the Euro futures with this system today...and it was profitable
But I think I was a little lucky, I still don't really a good handle on how to filter out the ones that don't end up going anywhere. By the time the D9 crosses the 0-line the market has usually traversed more than half way toward the other BB. However, as in the trade I made today (see chart) if you have a couple other indications of a good trade I think this D9 cross after a bounce off the BB is a pretty nice trigger.
Today's trade came after some clear divergence on the D9 vs. price, and the cross required a break of a local resistance area. I took the trade off the 5 range chart, but the 10 range D9 was about to cross as well, and the market was close to the lower BB on the 10-range.
did you monitor the predict and dtrend when prices were in the lower part of the bands?
i always look at those number near the BB and if for example , we are at the lower part of the band and detrend show -45 and predict show -20 i know prices will go higher and then you may take trade with more confidence and feel lucky and some times i even take the trade before the cross with divergence but this is my discretion not system
No I didn't. So do you simply look at their relative values as an indication of direction for the market?...if predict is less negative or more positive price is expected to go up?
Right now (10:01 CST) my Euro future chart has Detrend = -30 and Predict = -17 and the market is right on the lower BB (but D9 is not close to crossing, but is pointing up). If if were during active session would you consider a trade?
