Impressed by the webinar guys and great to see S5 taking on another exciting product.
Few questions for Walter if he's able to answer them:
- Are you able to give more detail into the strategies? I understand their is a proprietary nature to the strategies as they're owned by the developer, however a little blurb into what type of strategy it is: breakout, momentum, mean reverting, market making etc and any thing else the developer is willing to share about it. This would give the client more confidence in the strategy and be able to weigh up which strategy is best suited to the current state of the market.
- Would you ever consider options in the future? Having a free running strategy with no hedge is open to black swan type event risk. Having the ability to terminate the trade from the website or calling Anthony is one thing but having a covered call/put, directional spread or whatever is better!
All in all though I really like the product and will be looking to add something like this to complement my discretionary strategy.
Edit: Having watched the second part of the webinar, my first question was answered. Shame there isn't more verbal information of the strategies but understand Walter's point of how you can track each trade it's taking and see it's metrics basically making and assessment of what type of strategy it is.
Just thought about a cool metric to display the recovery aspect of each strategy: Time taken from worst drawdown to breakeven. One to ponder...
The guys over there at S5 are great. I've always received prompt service from them. Would recommend them to anyone looking for a futures broker. FTs enormous contribution to trader education goes without saying. His private AMAs are priceless. Ian's my broker and he's always been prompt and helpful with his support.
Thank you for the nice review and detailed comments @Zefi!
We are really excited about the S5 iSystems and it is great to hear positive feedback from traders like yourself. Thank you.
1) Short Strategy Description - I agree with this completely and would really like this description myself. Currently, you can filter by intraday vs swing strategy, but a short bio/description on the trading strategy would be nice. Walter and the developers at iSystems are discussing this feature internally. Hopefully, they will come back with a positive response and add the description field to the cut sheet. Fingers crossed on this one.
2) Options on Futures - Unfortunately this isn't something on iSystems developmental radar. I do however agree and think this could be a nice feature for certain longer term strategies to help manage positions and risk. From what I understand, options on futures add a great deal of complexity on the coding/programming and risk management for these automated trading strategies. Additionally, they add complexity to the data back testing. I believe Futures provide a great deal of liquidity which should provide the strategies with the ability to exit positions quickly and effectively to help manage risk without options. These are a few reasons why I believe Options on Futures are not in iSystems near term development queue.
Otherwise, here is a short video that goes over the basic usage of the S5 iSystems portal and explains a few details on how to use S5 iSystems to add an automated trading strategy to your account.
4) Recovery Statistic: Time Taken from Worst Drawdown to Breakeven - I like this stat a lot as well. One way you can somewhat see the recovery time statistic is to hover your mouse over the chart from the drawdown and scroll to the right until break-even. It isn't perfect like a stat field would be, but something to use in the interim with dates and #'s. Either way, we have added this to the wish list.
I hope this helps. Please let us know if you have any questions or we can help with anything further.

Stage5 is a horrible trading company in my opinion. They cant even get their internal accounting mess sorted out. Funds dont clear on time and I have missed many potential profitable trades due to their inefficiency.
We are disappointed in hearing that your experience with funding your account hasn’t met your expectations. We persistently advocate for you, the trader, to make sure the process and experience is smooth. This is why we enjoy the high ratings and the outstanding reputation that we have.
I have looked at your case and, unfortunately, we have limited control over how quickly your bank sends a wire and how quickly the FCM processes it. The FCM's treasury department can't post incoming funds to your futures account until they are received. I do believe you should see the funds posted any moment now.
From our experiences, banks receive wire requests from their customers and then put the request in a queue for the transfer. The bank then processes these requests in bulk a few times a day. This can provide confusion as the bank may tell customers the wire has been processed and provide an internal ID # for the wire. This ID # can cause confusion since the wire transfer request is only in the banks internal queue to be processed which is likely to happen at a later time. Once your bank wires the funds the FCM's Treasury Department can receive and post to your account.
If someone experiences delays in the transfer process, I think the best thing to do is request the federal reference number of the wire transfer from your bank. If you can provide us with this number Treasury can track down the funds for you.
We would like you to have your account funded as quickly as possible, and work diligently to support you in that process.
Please feel free to give me a call to discuss this and other potential solutions to help speed up the procedure.
I look forward to speaking with you.
Thanks,

I just got off the line with your FCM’s treasury department and they confirmed your funds have been received and are posted to your account. They are now available for live trading. Please test your account when you have a chance and let us know if you see anything differently. If you experience any issues like this moving forward just let us know first and we will do everything in our power to assist as we consider ourselves your trading partner.
As always, we appreciate your involvement and support by being with Stage 5 and look forward to having the continued opportunity to serve your trading needs.
Thanks again.

Excellent! Glad to hear your bank was able to get the transfer sorted, sent, and the FCM was able to post to the account.
If there is anything we can help with from our side, please let us know.
Thanks,
Anthony
