I am retired from 40 years in the computer software business. I need to return to work and as most of these jobs have been shipped to India, I decided to try on a new career. I can hear Mike's words now 'he is doomed to failure', because I am coming into this business from entirely the wrong place. Need rather than desire.
I heard about Big Mike from my readings in Ninjatrader and in Brett Steenbarger's blog. Armed with all of my tools, I am excited about this new adventure and having found this forum, very happy to be part of it. As I gain some experience I will be happy to contribute.
After trading financial and energy futures using Excel, VBA and VB6 for nearly 15 years, I recently started exploring NT6.5 and now NT7. I just found Big Mike's Forum and the community and resources here are great! I look forward to learning and sharing.
Superdoug, can you send me the link of where Brett's blog mentions futures.io (formerly BMT)? I couldn't find it. I'm a big fan of his and plan to ask him to host some webinars for us soon.
Mea Coopla Mike; I checked and could not find any reference to futures.io (formerly BMT) on Brett's blog. I started my education with NT forum, so it must have been there.
Hi everyone, I've been papertrading for about ten years. About 4 months ago I started to use real money. Even when I'm in a winning trade I get the jitters and get out too soon. Trading with real money is a whole different game. I trade the emini S&P.
I got interested in fx trading one year ago, and i've been developing a script for automated trading. I'm not really interested in being a trader, I want it to be fully automated and money-making.... ))
Starting out with Metatrader, I've eventually developed a system based on Renko bars and the Ichimoku indikator, combined with some regression analysis. I've put the system to work on a demo account, and it currently trades with a small profit over time.
However, I haven't been able to optimise one single parameter in this rather complex setup, because it's just not possible to optimise renko bars in Metatrader. Thus, there should be potential for much better results, and I decided to get more professional about all this, and find a better platform to run the system with optimised parameters.
After some evaluations I decided to go for Multicharts, and now learning Easylanguage and starting to port the system from mq4.
Stumbled over this forum because of the threads discussing the pros and cons of NT and MC, and to my great delight also some recent disussions about optimising with renko bars!
... so, thanks to Mike for starting this forum! :bmt-rocks:
