I'm glad to be here, this BBS looks very professional. I come from China and I like this profession very much. I hope here can learn all about trading.
I dont know anything about trading beyond some book in the library, youtube, and practice accounts. I am a prep cook at a burger joint and I am extremely motivated to learn and make a living in the futures market. Thank you for this site Big Mike, I really appreciate it.
Thank you Mike this wonder forum everyone seems so nice I hope I am not going to bother the group by discussing topics and subjects that primarily deal with the options market as I am not involved in the futures market YET lol
Hello. My name is John, and I did some e-mini day trading about ten years ago. All I have to show for that are the usual sob stories...bad strategy, too many losing trades, cut my winners short...etc. etc. etc.
I am a long time unemployed software developer, so I thought I would get back into trading as my last shot at a comfortable retirement. I am hoping to learn how to develop a solid trading strategy and overcome my many trading weaknesses over the next few months. Thanks to all in advance for your help and support, and a special thanks to Big Mike for this forum.
Have been trading for 18 months. Mostly stocks and options using the Options House platform. Recently started learning momentum to day trade e-minis using Cunningham.
I have a wall of monitors to the ceiling and as far wise as a guy has to squint to read. I do the trading around the place.
I've been a trader for 8 yers intensely studying a lot of different areas of the Wall St. industry. Often I can't believe how much daylight and outside air I've given up finding roots in this industry.
This is a science for me, and it's not just a science of the tradability of the market rubik's cube and technique spectrum, but this comes down to studying civilization. This infinite internet has no end of archives and communications in its many ways of exchanging news old and new.
I research and write, trade and hustle. I've been writing and entrepreneurial all of my life of travels. Finding a way to do all of this all of the time was something that wasn't in the cards until I landed on this acre of pixels trading that pays while I sew and reap better and better stuff and more more stuff than the year before. This is the kind of life where you feel very well travelled, but you have barely left the place you're working in. It's a new kind of world after it killed my labor service businesses. This way though I'll be doing the stuff every other man and woman my age can only wish they could afford when we are all retired.
I'm totally new to trading and currently preparing to trade in the futures and FX markets. I'm an INTJ, information hoarder (approx 1300 new Chrome bookmarks since I began my trading studies), but I'm also focusing on the 20% (more like 2%) to get 80% of the results. With all this information available, weeding out useless, outdated, fake, suboptimal information or info not suited for my personality is really a day job. My goal is to learn a few obscure and super profitable super setups.
Looking forward to participate in this unusually nice community!
Here's my story ( the shortest version I could come up with).
I retired three years ago with a nice cash payout but no trading knowledge, so I put my trust and money in a buy-and-hold account with EJ and lost about 30% in year one of retirement.
I had a sick gut feeling from the fear of running out of money and decided that I 'd better find something else fast.
So I spent a couple of months learning about Futures and tried the automated trading route, subscribing to a few profitable systems through a popular online broker. That was going ok until the best performing system got hung in a short contract the night of the presidential election. I got a call the next day to cover the 50% draw down.
That's when I decided I was taking total control of my money and would learn about trading. I've been glued to my computer for 5 months, researching and watching my charts. I've been paper trading for a couple of weeks - basically scalping for 2 or 3 pts, based on patterns and signals from a couple of good indicators. I know it's not real money but the results have been pretty good.
I believe one is never too old to learn and it sounds like everyone here (young and old) feels the same. I look forward to sharing and I'll be upgrading to the Elite membership today.
