I stumbled across this site today and look forward to frequenting it in the future.
I have been trading for about 18 months --- first in stocks (made some money), then in eminis (lost some money), and now in forex (we'll see what happens!). I'm still new to the trading game --- especially day trading, but I am fascinated by its opportunities and risks. I hope to learn something here and share my learning along the way.
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
I look forward to your posts. The best way to advance your trading career is by education, and a great way to advance your education is by participating on the forum. Help others where you can, and in turn they will help you.
Hello everybody! It is nice to have a place like this to share some experience.
I'm slowly coming back to trading. After 2 years of good trades I got a huge loss during the crisis I decided to remove the cents have left from my broker account and dedicate myself full time to my education. I'm currently doing my PhD in Bio/medtech nanodevices... well I have a passion for trading, so I'm coming back to do some position trading which I can reserve 2-3h per day and dedicate myself to learn and plan next day actions.
I'm very interested to learn NinjaTrade so my first question is where i could get info for fast start on it and how perform some backtests considering position trades and basically no "short" operations.

I have been trading for about 8 years. I started out position and swing trading Norwegian stocks and then moved on to US futures. The last 3 years I have been travelling the world, dividing my time between Europe, Austalia and the US. And so my intraday trading has been sporadic, but I am now looking to trade full time again.
I live in Placerville and have been trading stocks and options off and on for a very long time. Now I am moving to the eminis to see if I can follow Mike's advice and avoid the pit falls.
I am just a beginner in the futures day trading business but years ago I worked for Wedbush as a broker and we day traded IBM for lunch money. Right now I am trading the demo acct and made $4000. today... I know its just for practice but maybe there is chance that with a lot of coaching I can make a steady income stream. Wish me luck and thanks Mike for all advice and help.
I'm 23 year old recent college graduate. I studied in the states but I've decided to take some time off between undergraduate and graduate school, so i'm back home in Sri lanka. About a month ago I got interested in trading stocks. day trading to be more specific
I started reading, van K. Tharp books Trade you way to financial freedom and then went on to read Kirkpatrick & Dahlquists' book on technical analysis. I also went through John Ehler's book Cybernetic Analysis for stocks & futures. I liked ehler's book mostly because i am mathematician by education, but i also realized that he is very advanced and I wouldn't want to use advanced techniques until i am confident about my ability to apply basics. To that effect the other two books I have read have been very helpful.
The Sri lankan stock exchange is doing pretty well it went up 100% last year and is already up more that 50% this year. So the times are ripe. I am about to start developing my own system, so far I am interested in using volatility breakouts coupled with high liquidity to enter the market. I have to design a proper stop, some mechanism for position sizing and risk evaluation, as well as an exist strategy.
Can anyone give me decent advice about the parts of my system that I haven't finished developing as well as my entry strategy. One thing i have noticed from the data is that stocks colombo stock exchange changes direction only one or two times a day. People seem to change direction very slowly intraday.
I am just a wee beginner. Gonna take my time and understand as much as I can before dipping my feet in, if I ever do. I appreciate the forum, it has so much good info and resources. A real benefit to everyone.
Thank Mike for the site, looks promising. Had blown 5 accounts but then made a mini-fortune. Now trying to see whether it was an extended spell of luck or a seed of auspicious talent. Am fundamentalist moving towards technical and automated with fundamentals being an ever important backdrop.
I have been trying to figure out how to use this website for a while now, I finallly found the correct link to post my introduction.
I have been trading the eminis for about a year now with about some success, I haven't yet blown account yet, but still have the same problems most begginers have.
cut your winners short and your losers are still to high.
currently all my trading systems are on different platforms.
1. I use a pbfsqueeze and vwap on Ninjatrader, but my bollinger band with paintbars and arrows are on esignal, and I am finding that my ninjatrader platfrom is crashing a lot lately. I would like to find a programmer to convert my esignal code over to ninjatrader, it really does give good signals.
