I recently joined this impressive forum...done some browsing and already found rewarding infos and advice...
Thanks, Big Mike, for putting this great platform together and for investing the time and energy to maintain it...
I've been selling future options for approx. 6 months, also some stock options...not too unhappy with the results so far, considering I've committed some pretty heavy blunders...
Looking forward to learning and sharing …happy trading everyone – see you around...
I found this forum by surfing the web for multichart tips and trick !
I'm a beginner with Trading Systems... I'm still learning easylanguage and multicharts...I think that make my trading operation automatic could help to avoid a lot of common mistakes occured during a trading session and expecially to leave emotions out of the game.
I'm trying to learn to code to apply my first ideas on a strategy based on the Future DAX.... hopefully I'll find some help here! :-D
I worked more than 30 years in the computer world as system engineer. I start to trade around 2010 based on a guru references, it’s a disaster and i loose a lot of money. In between i used funds placement and i gain a little only thanks to the choppy market in 2011 2015 and 2016. I am now retiree and decided to restart my trading activity but very differently. I found a mentor who corresponds with my style of trading. Mainly i want to swing trade stocks long or short and use forex to hedge my portfolio at least as my base currency is EUR.
I started also a courses to uses options in some cases.
I never trade futures, i imagine it’s like an option for stocks*?
I found this site by making internet research, and as i found some very usefull informations convince me to register.
In short i am here to learn.
I have been trading futures for just over 4 years; two years trading interest rates and bonds at a prop firm executing with CQG IC and two years in my current role as a market maker trading electricity futures (executing with TT X_Trader Pro).
Before trading, while at university, I played over 5 million hands of online poker with decent success.
I plan to trade a large number of liquid futures markets systematically with a minimum of twenty different systems, I want to diversify across periodicity, markets and setups (trends/reversals/breakouts).
I have chosen Multicharts and BuildAlpha to develop and trade the systems.
I have plenty of ideas for systems, mostly from my experience in the market, ready to test.. I just need to get better at easylanguage..
I intensivily studied trading the last two years, mostly forex. Now just getting started in futures. Going live trading soon. I will check this very nice website out. Thanks for all the work Big Mike. Greetings from Antwerp, Belgium.
First and foremost, thanks Mike for your initiative to create a wonderful place for futures traders such as this. I'm a trader from Malaysia. I got my forex trading account blown up in 2008 and that was the first and last time (It was someone else's money by the way). I took responsibility and paid every single cents. I learned that the market is unforgiving and you can't come into the market not knowing what you're doing or second guessing your decision. I did that and it took me several years to recover from that.
Coming from a legal background, I knew that the learning curve was going to be steep and will take me longer to get to somewhere where others would have reached faster. But it didn't bother me coz I love trading and I can see the enormous potential in it. So I started taking exams, reading books and working in the industry. I was changing jobs just to understand how the market works (compliance, dealer, research analyst, investment analyst, operations). I'm still learning and I would say, compared to most of the participants here, I'm relatively new and fresh.
In 2016, I started trading again with approximately $5000 in a local derivatives market (pooling with a partner). My approach was mechanical but I had to manually enter the orders as I do not know any programming language. It had strict rules which I religiously followed. Initially it started as an intraday strategy and made some money. Then reality kicks in. Slippage, liquidity issue, poor infra and distraction from my full-time job got the worst out of the strategy. From a high of +25% in one or two months (can't really remember) to -25%. So I tried to identify the issue and made several adjustments while maintaining the core attributes of the strategy. I evolved it into a swing strategy.
It was slow but stable and it suits my temperament and weak psychological attributes as I do not have to deal with frequent consecutive losses within a short span of time. After almost 2 years, the account grew into approximately $17,500. It's nothing compared to what others can do, so here I am, trying to pursue the wisdom and experience from the community so that I can Improve and develop more strategies. I'm looking forward to learn and contribute. Bless you all and thanks for making this a great place for traders alike.
I trade onshore China treasury futures. Previously, I had experiences in commodity futures and currency futures. Hopefully, we can exchange ideas and become a better trader. Best wishes and happy trading
