I have joined the community a few weeks ago but have not really spent enough time to navigate the site yet but I am finally starting to :-)
I have years of experience trading stocks, options, index/commodity futures but I always seem to get caught off guard by the devil of my own emotion... After all these years being on and off trading (exciting period and punishment period), by now I am aware that I need something like an automated system that keeps my emotion out of the game and let the "trading system" do its job. I have started tinkering with NT8 strategy builder back in October 2018 and just enabled live trading last week. I thought I had a perfect strategy that worked almost perfectly in my backtesting (strategy analyzer). On my first day trading my real money on NT8, I got kicked out of trading by reaching my daily max loss within the first ten minutes of my trading hours. And you can guess what I did. I put myself back in the game believing that my system would work "this time". It took even shorter than ten minutes this time to reach my daily max loss, again!.
That is when I found out my "backtesting" was not really a real backtesting.
At this point, I am in search of better and more accurate ways to carry out backtesting in NT8 but along the way, I plan to take some time in this community and learn things I have yet to come across or to be aware of and slowly better myself in this trading journey.
Just wanted to introduce myself at the request of Big Mike.
Interested in trading EMini futures on both discretionary and automated basis. Multicharts is my platform and I am pretty much an expert in EasyLanguage / PowerLanguage.
Looking forward to some good discussions.
Name is Ryan and like many of you, I want to improve my trading game and become the best I can be. I am currently trading live on TS and loving the process of learning.
I have a very small account, but big goals for the future. Some day, I aim to make trading my full time income, but for now I don't have the starting capital to make that a reality. I'll be working again soon and depositing a percent of each paycheck into my account and gradually working up my trading size as I improve.
I've cycled through a few methodologies since starting and recently began putting work into price action. I made a few huge mistakes my first week live and have since cut my trading down massively, as I was simply going nuts with the overtrading. Since cutting back I've slowed the bleed and been able to look my results head on and make adjustments.
Appreciate everyone on here trying to help one and another, and some day I aim to be able to give back. My process has been to study (brooks currently), practice, review and then study again. I split my reading between price action and psychology for now - I'd love to hear some veteran insight on how they would mold a newbie.
I thought I might have introduced myself some time ago but I could not find it. I have been mostly a lurker but inactive until recently starting a journal for Feb.
I work full time as a plant manager making car parts which is extremely demanding. Been interested and learning trading a long time. It’s been a decent “tuition” so far and would like to retire or semi retire within 1-2 years by trading full time. Am taking it extremely serious, I have taken several courses and involved in a small team now with a trading coach. Also have done a bunch of reading and am still a serious student.
Apart from trading which I am very passionate about, I love classic or exotic cars, motorcycles, and am into RC. Also love traveling. Married with 2 daughters.
Live near Toronto Canada. Am very interested to follow some of the gurus here as well as possibly meet and greet some of the folks that might share my interests
What's that sonny? 70 years old? How did that happen?
Glad to find a community so dedicated to improvement and helping one another.
My initial contribution might be this thought: Everything and everyone is connected -- all one, despite appearances. Energy, love and abundance WANT to flow into your life....DON'T GET IN THE WAY !

PS: Since I'm old, you might have to YELL to get my attention.
I am a newbie (haven't traded live yet) futures trader from Toronto.
I have 4 years trading equities, but after a friend suggested I look into futures trading... something just clicked for me instantly. Why try to babysit and hunt 10-20+ symbols each day when you can simply focus 110% of your attention on one symbol.
I watched the live futures charts every day for about 3 weeks and decided that scalping the ES would best "suit" my personality. I don't know if I will be successful or not, but I do know that I will have a trading plan and methodology before I buy a single contract live.
Blew up 2 accounts trading equities in the past, took a while to figure out some psychological things, my equity curve has been positive for about 2 years now. Hope to learn more browsing these forums.... currently comparing different futures brokerages available to Canadians. My main trading account is with IB and their intraday margin is something like $5000 per contract, unless I am mistaken lol.
