glad to be eventually subscribed on the forum after reading and watching many interesting contents from Futures.io
I'm a day trader from Italy focused on european and american futures and I look forward to share my (not extremely vast) experience with the ones of you ladies and gentlemen interested in volumetric and orderflow analisys.
At the moment particularly interested in finding the right tools to correctly interpret the relation between limit orders and market orders and their influence on the price whithin the order flow.
Hello,
Been a member of this community for 1278 days and have yet to post. Decided to take the plunge and join. This is my second round at attempting to trade futures and looking for a better result this time. I'm eager to jump into the forums and maybe, just maybe I can help someone avoid the pain that I've been through the last 10 years and fast track their success with a post or two. Talk to you guys soon.
I work in the Corporate Cyber Security Sector and trade part-time.
I had 2 mentors, but neither of them are reliable or good people. I have been trading futures on the S&P500 emini for about 2 years. I was recruited by a new Academy by Mentor2 here in Toronto where I received some sort of "formal" training, but it did not really go anywhere. I lost about 5.5k total and got sick early last year. I messaged Mentor2 to tell them about my sickness and my inability to continue trading, but got zero response from them. I felt abandoned. Mentor1 who was supposed to be a good friend, took me under his wing taught me from what I see the correct way to use the fibonacci retracements (e.g. 38%, 50% & 61%) and extensions (e.g. 127%, 150% & 161%). Mentor1 provided some indicators, configurations and wisdom. Mentor1 ended the friendship/mentorship abruptly over a minor matter. Shocked by this unexpected turn of events and being abandoned by yet another mentor, I came to this forum to seek guidance and support. My objective is to fine tune my craft, become part of this community(I just became an ELiTE Member to show my support), and hopefully find many more mentors and mentees in the process.
Its only been 1983 days since I 1st created my account in futures.io (at that time it was still Big Mike Trading) and I thought I would intruduce myself.
The fact is, I havent been active in the field of algo trading all this time - I happened to rediscover this site lately to find out that I already have an account.
I have been involed in mostly equity investing for the past 20 years with very good results (mainly in bull markets). The main strategies I have used were based on macro and business cycle forecasting - using inflation, growth and interest rate comparison with equity earnings yield. So in effect my strategy has been pretty monotonous trend following long term bets on the way up or down using options for leverage and money management.
I was lucky enought to not ever blow up my account but I have had my share of heavy losses. As I look back the main reason I kept most my profits is because I took them and invested them in some real world asset or business.
I lately stumbled onto an old video in youtube with "the battle of the bots back from 2015". I sat down to code some of these ideas and tweaked them to my standards by adding my experience to find out that they still work! As I gradually reallife test these or other ideas I plan to visit this site and contribute more.
I'm new to the site and have already found some great threads and insights, so thanks to Mike and everyone that've contributed.
Long story short: I started trading a couple of years ago by learning about options and specifically selling option premium. I was delighted to see that if I was delta neutral and just held my trades the time decay would ring the register for me. I was instantly hooked!
However as I started to get more active I realized that I was basically winning dimes and when I lost it would be dollars and I was constantly trying to 'make it back' while just digging deeper. Not good....
That led me to try to understand how to pick entries better and figure out how to read the market. I'm basically still working on this. I feel like I'm close (haha I know....famous last words of every trader out there).
I'm trading futures now but still in sim although I have traded many live money trades...it's just that I've lost enough money over the past couple years to actually wake me up and realize I need to have a solid methodology worked out before risking anymore of my hard earned coin.
Hello everyone, I decided to join this group because of the many interesting things that can be learned in the future world. Thank you. Greetings from Spain
