seems like there's a new problem every day with nt7. I really liked the idea of the session template. it's easy to restart indicators at the beginning of rth. and so far it worked great. but today around 09.40 (eastern time), some indicators stopped working. when I change the session template to something like 24/7, the indicators are working fine. last week everything was fine and I didn't make any changes in the meantime.
maybe it's time to use the recycle bin. or maybe it's just not time yet to move to nt7.
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
the strange thing is, when I change the session template, the indicators are working fine. and I don't think I made any mistakes with my own template, since it worked in the past.
Make sure you check the start and end times in the indicator settings, as well as the chart session template and the instrument session template.
For futures contracts instead of using the defaults that come set in the instrument list, whenever you see RTH (Regular Trading Hours) change it to ETH (Extended Trading Hours) which will be just above the original setting in the dropdown list of predefined session templates.
Session templates are a huge improvement in NT7, they just take a little getting used to.
I justed started to test volume profile. It works with multi-session templates.
However, if you change your session template, this resets the indicator, as it is a real-time indicator that plots the profile starting from the connection-time.
If the other indicators are not working, they are not compatible with session templates or use the wrong settings.
the gomi vwap has a reset time. I use 09:30 and that's working great. the volume profile has a reinit session, which I set to true. and the delta volume doesn't have any settings.
you're right about changing it to eth, that works. but I would prefer when the indicators start at the beginning of rth.
just noticed something. all the indicators are working fine when using min and volume charts. but they are not working with tick, range, renko or kase.
this makes me believe it's more likely a NT7 problem than mine.
I have tested my own session related indicators on tick charts, and they all work fine. There have been some code breaking changes relating to sessions with the release of NT 7.0.0.21. If the indicators have not been adapted to the latest release, they may not work.
Most of the indicators are indifferent to the session template, as the session end only cuts of the current bar. Otherwise there are some session related commands, and I have seen quite a number of indicators that have confused session and local trading day as used by NinjaTrader.
If the logic of the sessions is not understood by those who code the indicators, this is not the fault of NinjaTrader. I have really tested the sessions they work - with the exception on rollover day, where the old contract may be displayed for all but the last intraday sessions.
