I used to be an oil trader when the IPE opened in 1981 and love trading. Now that I am looking to retire I am getting back in trading and it looks that there is no better time than now with the high volatility and crazy moves in stocks , currencies and oil, gold.
Hi all,
just started trading. I am fascinated by the subject. Went through babypips and try to trade on the forex markets to start out. However, I also want to look at stocks, futures and options to see what I like best. For now I try to work without any indicators, just price action and candles. If I see that pure pa is not working for me I may have to change things up. However, I do hope I find my style early as I am prone to jump from one thing to another just for the curiosity.
Like most I have my own story of rags to riches to rags. Haven't traded futures since the late 90's.
Made a lot..lost it all......good system..no risk management.
Have stayed in stocks and options since but now ready to dip my toe back in the futures waters and learn how the markets work these days (i.e. I used to call my broker to make a trade).
Currently on Think or Swim - just learning how it functions.
I feel blessed to have finally joined this community, a community of traders that care about helping other traders. Many years ago I had over $50K in my bank account which took me over ten years to save, and then in a matter of a few months I lost it all.
Sometime around 2012 I started day trading trading Michael Kors (KORS) stock without a stop loss as I found that this stock would go up and down daily basis. Some weeks I would make between $500-$1,000. But then I thought if I traded a stock that was cheap enough, I could buy more shares and make more money. That is when I found Best Buy (BBY). I then shorted as many shares as I could, and at that time (2012) BBY had been in a free fall. Of course after shorting all the stock I could, it turned around on me and started going up.
And because I did not have a stop loss to protect my loses, I started watching my money disappear day after day. I was too stubborn and had an ego that would not let me close out and take my loses, as I kept thinking it would come back and I would be fine. As you could imagine, my worst fears came true and I was I lost it all.
I decided to get back into trading and try the 30 year bond market and the 10 year notes. I believe today that I can make better decisions, and I can be happier with smaller wins, as well as smaller loses. My dream is to be a consistent profitable trader so I can buy a house for my family, and to be able to increase my donations to our charities, our church, and to those less fortunate than us. I look forward to learning, and hopefully being able to be a blessing for others as well.
Hey traders. I've had an account on this site for a while but never used it. I'm 1.5 yrs into my trading journey. I traded stocks for the first year but I found equities quite challenging for a number of reasons. Mainly, I hated chasing the next hot stock, or waiting for "my stocks" to actually move. So now I just have been focusing on learning crude oil futures. My style is mostly scalping/order flow with some TA. I'm finding jigsaw to be a very valuable tool. Also I am now working on learning footprint charts. Looking forward to learning what I can here and I'm open to any discussion. Thanks!
I am a software engineer nearing retirement and looking for my next endeavor.
I became interested in trading stocks and futures (ES) and I am looking for education and recommendations.
I have no experience trading futures. I came across NinjaTrader and I am considering opening an account with them. It seems they have the best platform for futures trading(comparable to Thinkorswim). They have much better commissions than TD Ameritrade and Etrade.
Questions:
Funds in the account don't seem to be insured by anybody. I am concerned about leaving a lot of o money with them. Is this OK?
How easy is it to move money in and out of the account? Do they do ACH? Do I have to pay to get money out?
Ninjatrader does not have a lot about funding and withdraws on their website.
I am new to futures.io, actually, I stumbled upon this site while searching for the review for AI Brooks course. I found a thread from @Giamsterdam4x and wanted to ask him how was his journey but it seems new members cannot ask question on a post without 10 posts.
So will wait for that.
