Hello all. I joined Futures IO today after helping a friend of mine that was having a problem with her broker. So researching brokers led me here. I have been a part of Warrior Trading and Trade Pro Academy. I especially spent a lot of money at TradePro Academy and have taken all of their advanced Futures Courses and I am starting to have some mixed feelings about their education although I really like the community of Futures traders there. I have since joined Pure Structure Trading which was formed by a couple of very successful Futures traders that I know very well who left Trade Pro Academy. I have about 2 years of futures trading experience and I am to the point where my screen time and experience has gotten me from taking losses to being break even to slightly profitable. Hoping I can contribute something to the community here. Collaborating with other traders has helped me grow in my journey and I think collaboration is an important key to success in the Futures trading world. Thank you all in advance for your support here at Futures IO.
Been investing in the market since I was 14 or so but its always been large caps or ETF's. Finally decided it was time for me to apply my technical/analytical knowledge I have from my day job as an engineer to dabble in the daytrading and futures markets. I am just getting into reading up on theory and trying to identify the best platform to allow me to practice trading on before I dive into it with real money. I've enjoyed scanning the forums for the past few days.
I'm tradecombine. (Like the piece of farm equipment.)
I'm just beginning at trading, so I've spent the last couple months researching and back-testing rules-based strategies (manual and automatic). I've found some good materials out there (and I've also found some people who want to sell you something that have nothing of value). To paraphrase TradingRush: "no point in putting my hard-earned money into a strategy, that doesn't even work!"
I started off on the TDAmeritrade/ThinkOrSwim side, and while their ThinkScript platfrom is very intuitive and beginner-friendly, I quickly ran into platform limitations around automating trades, so I then sought out NinjaTrader. (I reserve the right to try other platforms in the future.)
I've seen in practice that my rules about support/resistance, trend-following, etc, work if I follow them, so I want to work on my discipline in back testing while I also work at automating my rules. I've seen so far that keeping it simple works best for me. One of the biggest things I've learned is to not risk too much on a single deal, always keeping money management and risk profile top of mind. I figure it's easier for a computer to do this than myself, so that's another appeal of automated trading.
During my research, futures.io eventually turned up in a search result when someone wanted a conversion of TradingRush's BeepBoop indicator, so I did that here:
<sorry, I can't post links because I'm too new.>
The indicator is also posted to the Ninjatrader ecosystem:

The community on this website seems welcoming so far.
Almost forgot my standard disclaimer: Don't take trading advice from a piece of farm equipment!
I'm nearing retirement (probably have 5 years or so of gainful employment before I decide it's time to quit and for me & the wife to go do more fun).
I feel like retirement is pretty well funded, but for right now, I'm looking for some debt reduction acceleration principles. I've been poking around doing some minor trading for 5 or 6 years or so, but nothing ever very serious. So, thought I'd buckle down and start investing in my investing
Maybe if I'd have switched the order of the words, it would make more sense. Something along the lines of "Accelerated Debt Reduction Principles". I currently have a HELOC with about 5 years until payoff @ current payout schedule & a Mortgage with another 20 or so years. I'd love to be able to get rid of the HELOC, and make a serious dent in the Mortage before I decide to "pull the plug" on working.
Hello from the beach in North County San Diego. New here and relatively new to the world of technical analysis. Started trading 10 years ago after reading Reminisces of a Stock Operator. I have earned 300%+ over that time using buy and hold on a very very small portfolio without any detailed research. My trading portfolio consists of the ETF's and Equities that I've held over that time and now over the last few years I've added Crypto's into the mix. Always have been and intend to continue to be a mostly buy and hold investor. Recently though, I've started to learn to take profits on swings and begun to be open to speculate on exponential movements regardless of the class of security. I'm interested in indicators and tools that might help me with this. Also in learning how to execute some of these strategies in Forex, as that is the next trading market I'm interesting in being active in. That about sums it up, beyond that my knowledge about any derivatives such as futures or options is very, very limited. Apologies ahead of time for any ignorant statements I've made here due to lack of knowledge. Thats why I'm excited to be here with you guys. Thanks to everyone contributing to this community. Looking forward to learning and growing with everyone here.
