I don't know if anyone can help me but I have an idea that maybe someone can help with. What I am looking for is to have an alert come on with a recorded message say like every 30 minutes or a certain time that I may want. The message will say for instance " Hector remember no revenge trading and wait for the trade to come to you. " Then maybe the next message to say how is the market today and should you be trading today. " Just wondering if this can be done.
Thanks
Hector
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
I want to be on a time alert for example: (these would be voice alerts)
1. 8:30 am cst "market has opened have you checked for trend direction and any news"
2. 8:45 am "remember hector no over trading or revenge trading."
3. 9:00 am "remember let the market come to you."
4. 9:15 am "is market clear to trade or is it choppy and you have to wait for set up."
and so on and so on. even if the come on every 15 minutes during the day. Something that keeps me
checked and balanced. I need to get over this hump of doing rea well for a couple of weeks then ruining
my account by doing dumb things. Actually it would be like having another set of eyes on me all day.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Once a condition has been defined, an indicator can use Windows text to speech to recite phrases that consist of any programmable combination of fixed strings and variables. Recorded messages and sound files are so primitive......
Would you want to use a GPS that could only recite recorded messages? I can assure you, NO.
Windows has text to speech capability that can be used by NinjaTrader. That means that instead of having a bunch of indicators that play back humorous but meaningless and confusing .wav files, your indicators can recite text that can be controlled programatically …
Thanks for the idea, looks great. However, as I read through the thread I was not clear on exactly how to use Windows' text to speech in this indicator. As, I recall, @Fat Tails post (the last in that thread) indicates his frustration and reverting back to sound files for alerts.
Could you possibly provide a recent example (maybe convert the indicator in previous post) indicator as a working sample?
Aligator tried to download indicator and got error message. Picture attached: error message - hector24's library
I am not quite sure how the procedures work. I don't know what you mean by unzipping twice because it tells me that I already have the same indicator and if I want to overwrite it. Sorry for my ignorance but I am not at all any type of computer savvy person.
The solution suggested by @Zondor is certainly more elegant. You type the text into your indicator and it is converted to an audio file, when the alert is triggered. The advantage of this approach is that it is pretty easy to change the text for the alert files.
The more conventional approach would be to create sound files - for example message1.wav, message2.wav, message3.wav etc. - and then call these sound files from the indicator.
If you want to create a sound file for your own use, you should go to this website
type in your text and download the audio file and then copy it to the NinjaTrader sounds directory. The AT&T voice of Crystal is by far superior to the inbuilt speech synthesizers of Microsoft. The only inconvenient of this solution is that you have to create a new soundfile every time that you want to change the message.
If you belong to those who regularly rearrange all the furniture in the living room, then you should go for the solution of Zondor.
