Thank you Mike for having me and to the 300+ people who attended and contributed to the excellent question pool. I look forward to coming back again soon.
Great webinar - always enjoy listening to you speak.
And, congratulations on your decision to get on the front side of the customer expectation curve for NT8 with this series of slow reveal presentations.
In the Performance Viewer, I believe in v7 when the Periods tab with hours (or day) is selected, it is looking at the closing time of the trade. I am often interested in studying the effect of the opening time of the trades on the performance.
I posted this suggestion here Performance Viewer Help - [AUTOLINK]NinjaTrader[/AUTOLINK] Support Forum
I love using the Market Replay option in Ninjatrader 7 to test/refine my entry and exits. However, the lack of a Rewind Button makes it very frustrating and time consuming to scroll back to a particular point in time quickly (and accurately). As using the existing 'Go To' option requires several mouse clicks/actions etc to return to a specific point in time.
Will this be implemented in the new Ninjatrader 8 Playback option before it is official release?
One item I would really like to have/see is in the strategy analyzer. I would like to be able to view a true set of consolidated results, such as consolidated trade list, equity curve, true consolidated drawdown, etc. I know you have said that there is no Portfolio backtesting (i.e. test instrument A with Strategy A with Instr B and Strategy B etc), but given you know have a certain number on backtest/optimization results in memory, is there not a simple way (I know nothing is simple!) to make the consolidated views much much more usable???
Some feedback for Ray - I think you should allow users to code their own broker connections. The explanation you gave in the webinar as to why you don't seemed dubious. You said (to paraphrase) "we get a lot of requests from brokers to enable API access via Ninjatrader to their markets, but we don't because we don't want to connect to just anybody".
That is a silly argument. Ninjatrader is not in the business of selling brokerage, it is a software company. It would be a great feature which highlights NT strengths in enabling users to customize the software.
I can only conclude that it is for commercial reasons, that is Ninjatrader expects monetary compensation from the brokers for the access, either per connection via NT or ongoing cut of the user's brokerage fees. Which if true is disappointing.
