Is the best way to place a buy limit order by using DOM
That is funny. I think it is a natural progression to the next level. I feel inspired now that I am on NT mainly for the reasons you mentioned. I am watching a NT video on Youtube as we speak. Another reason I am inspired by using NT is my mentor-of-sorts, the video maker Mack at patactiontradingsystems.com uses NT. So it's inspiring to use the same platform that he uses.
@aventeren I have been on ToS for years and am looking for a platform that that is a little more robust and can do a little more. Who are you using for data behind Ninja? Who is your broker? Does it cost monthly or how much are you paying for live data?
Broker: Mirus (Broker), Continuum (Data), Dorman (Clearing)

It is certainly more robust. In my opinion one of the greatest benefits to moving to NT is the sim environment. As you know, sim versus live trading is incredibly different--and in the case of ToS even more so. What I found with the ToS paper trading world, when you entered an order, the ToS paper sim returns an almost immediate execution regardless of the number of contracts ahead of you. This is incredibly unrealistic, and I have found that the NT sim is much better at simulating real world order fills. I think of it like a bank line. Let's say that there are 50 people ahead of you when you walk in a bank. In the real world, you just have to wait your turn (unless you're a good customer, and then someone might step around to help you...but that's a different story). That's the reality of the world: wait your turn. In the ToS paper trading world, though, as soon as you enter the door at the bank, you immediately are put to the front of the line--maybe not even to the front of the line...actually you push the customer who was being helped out of the way. With NT's sim world, it simulates the process of waiting to have your order filled, although I am not exactly sure how this is done. Therefore, the NT sim is more like having to wait for 50 bank customers before you get to the banker. So I like this piece of it.
The other thing I like about NT is the programming community and people that use NT to trade. Granted I think the majority of this programming is for intraday stuff (and especially automated trading), so if you are a swing or longer trader, ToS may in fact be just fine for you. Oh, and the Market Replay functionality is amazing. It's just like the live world. Excellent.
I'm currently with Mirus for brokerage and data, and I've been pleased thus far. Interactive is also good. I will likely end up purchasing the Lifetime NT License, although I have not done that yet.
Another path may be Infinity AT. They have a free charting package that is built using Sierra Charts that was pretty good (free = at least 15 turns per month). So you may want to check them out, too.
