Continuing in the tradition of encouraging journals on futures.io (formerly BMT), I am announcing a new Journal contest for October 2014.
The rules are extremely simple:
a) The contest begins October 1 and ends October 31. All decisions made by futures.io (formerly BMT) are final.
b) This thread that you are reading right now will act as the repository for all journals that are entered into the contest.
c) The author of a journal can enter his/her futures.io (formerly BMT) journal into the contest by posting a link to his/her journal in this thread. Only the author of the journal can do this. Please post the link to the journal ONE TIME, AND ONE TIME ONLY in this thread.
d) Members of futures.io (formerly BMT) will cast their votes for the best journals by using the "Thanks" button on the post that the journal author has made in this very thread. This is why it is very important the author of the journal make only one post, because only one post will be used to count the total number of "Thanks Received" in this thread, and that is how the winners will be decided. Members can vote for as many separate journals as they want by following the same procedure.
e) There will be three prizes awarded, based on the highest number of "Thanks Received" per the above item. The prizes are a free 150K combine in TopstepTrader's program, a $400 value (each). I will post the full details of the 150K combine tomorrow, or you can visit TopstepTrader's website for more information.
I want to mention that I approached TST to purchase three combines to give away as part of this contest, and they instead wanted to provide these free of charge to futures.io (formerly BMT). So I want to say thank you to @TopstepTrader for this.
My goal with these contests is to encourage the journaling process.
If anyone has any questions, please let me know. This thread will remain closed to posts until October 1st (contest start date).
Here is some information provided by @TopstepTrader on the 150K combine, of which (3) will be given away during this contest.
The $150K Trading Combine is a real-time evaluation of your trading ability. In the $150K Combine, TopstepTrader watches your trading performance live on our data feed. ● Trader may negotiate to trade bigger size and more risk, and for the ability to trade other products
● Live trading mentorship and risk management
There are a few threads on futures.io (formerly BMT) that are located in the Journals section, but that are not journals by individual traders. Rather, they are collections of posts by a group of people trading a similar style or method.
Naturally, I encourage this behavior. However, for the purpose of this trading journal contest, these threads must be excluded because they contain multiple participants in a single thread instead of a single author journaling about his/her trading.
If anyone that is currently posting in one of these group threads wants to be eligible for this October journaling contest, they will need to start their own Journal thread where they are authoring the majority of posts themselves.
A question was asked if a member has multiple journals, can he submit more than one to the contest? The answer is yes, you can submit more than one so long as you are the author of the journal and the journal is being written primarily by you and not by a group of traders.
I will open this thread soon so authors of journals can start posting.
The suggested format for the author of a journal to enter their thread into the contest is to (a) make a post in this thread, (b) link to your journal URL (the page 1 URL is generally best), and (c) ask members to press 'Thanks' on that post if they want to vote for your journal to win the contest.
I want to remind you that an author of a journal can post multiple times in this thread, but that only the first post that contains the link to their journal will be used to count the 'Thanks Received' and judged for the contest.
Members are free to post in this thread and ask questions or make comments about journals. To vote for a thread, find the first post made by the author of that journal in this thread and click "Thanks".
I have decided to start a new open ended journal that I will use to recap and analyse my trades. I have been tweeting my trades as I take them so I can keep a running record that I can look back on to fill out my excel at the end of the day.
I …
thank you in advance for your vote.
After much debate I have decided that if I win a combine I will gift it to @srgtroy.
I guess it is time for me to enter the new nexusfi.com (formerly BMT) Journaling contest for October 2014.
A little about me and my journal before posting my link. Joined nexusfi.com (formerly BMT) a few years back. I definitely thought I was a much better trader than I truly am and have been proven wrong more times than right. Retired from military after twenty eight years, father of three girls, live in San Diego, and I only have to wait three more years to start collecting retirement, because I was a naval reservist.
My journal is "My Yellow Brick Road," and I guess in many ways trading for me has been much like "The Wizard of OZ." When I first watched it at the ripe old age of three it scared the dickens out of me and with time I learned to enjoy it for what it is. Also learned that my powers of observation needed much work from that movie. I recognized that the professor and the wizard were the same actor, but someone had to point out about the farm hands. Oh yes I did recognize the witch, and have been working on learning them in the markets as well.
Now this contest. Winning will mean more work on my part if I am so lucky as to win. I have noticed many a great journal on this website and thank all of you for posting them.
I've read the rules and hopefully I am following them correctly.
I am the author of "My Yellow Brick Road" so there is qualification #1 met.
Okay I am posting the link to my journal in only one post and this is it: If you want to start from the beginning of "The Yellow Brick Road:"
Hopefully I am putting this in the right location.
I have been journaling my trading now for several years.
I am comfortable with my journaling now and have a mentor that I send them to daily.
What I am not comfortable with yet is my trading, …
And if you are only interested in diving in around the beginning of October here is a fast forward link:

Please oh Please Put a "Thanks" as that is the only way I can win one of three 150K combines in TopstepTrader's program. (Must confess I had to look up what it was as I had heard of TopstepTrader, but not the term combine.)
Wow I looked up what that entails and it will be a lot of work, but if it helps my trading and gets me back into cash then I am all for it. Yes at this moment my "trading" account is SIM. Fully disclosed. Although there are some times from the start of my journal that it was not. Long story and I think I cover it some in my journal. And if there are any parts missing feel free to ask, or we can meet for coffee in San Diego and discuss sometime.
Well that is my story and I am sticking to it. Big Mike thanks again for giving me that nudge a few years back to start using an electric journal here online with nexusfi.com (formerly BMT). I also print out my chart and journal daily so I have paper copies to review. (Have to keep the forest products industry in business you know.)
Let the games begin. I look forward to reading as many of other people's journals as possible.
Thanks again all. Don't forget to put a thanks here please
